Hello everyone. My name is James and I’m British. I went to Dubai for Christmas and I caught the virus on the 9th January 2021 and I stayed in a hotel to quarantine for 12 days then I waited further more days to get a negative result. When I got it I returned to UK immediately. I was great the first week since returning on the 24th January but since Monday 1st February I felt SO tired exhausted and lightheaded and a bit dizzy. Has anyone else felt like this since after COVID?? Is it long COVID or what? Hope you can reply!
Thank you! James

James, as you went to Dubai for Christmas, surely you have understood the shielding rules and known that you shouldn't be going anywhere, during this pandemic. My wife has MF and has been out many times since the beginning of the pandemic, twice by ambulance, and around ten times by car to hospital for scans and appointments. Each time we have the worry that she comes into contact with a person not unlike you that has flouted the rules and been to Dubai or wherever and has covid 19. I just hope you realise that traveling to Dubai was not your best decision.
Yes going to Dubai could have been risky and for him it was. I know of someone’s son who did the same. At the time,Dubai was on the safe list. So no rules were broken.
I think what some mean, me included is the spirit of the rules. During this lockdown, some of us have had enough of Government advisors driving to castles to test to see if their vision is ok and Mps travelling down from Scotland on the train to London to sit in the house of Commons after taking a Covid test (which later confirmed a positive result) that is only the tip of the iceburg of these high profile people who should know better. They might not have broke any laws or rules but they knew they were bending them to the max. Tina.🤗
Oh I know exactly how you feel I was told about a pregnant woman who travelled outside our area to York for a meal. I thought it totally selfish and inconsiderate I still can see why the transport police didn’t send the day trippers packing back to their own area. As a result York Covid rates escalated.😡😡😡. She broke the rules!!!
My area is still recording really high cases of Covid even though nationally its falling or supposed to be. All around here I can see large gatherings taking place. My neighbours on the one side are in what you would term an HMO, their are several indian men occupying it and you see several more coming and going to the property. When I looked out of my bedrom window last night 3 cars pulled up and were greeted by one of the men from inside the house. Their was 4 in each car, a total of 12 and they all went inside. Goodness knows how many in total were in that property. This is why we can't beat this virus.Tina.🤗
Dosen't particularly bother me because its going on all over the country. I'm concerned for the more frail and eldery and people stuck in Hospitals and Care homes with no vistors because of Covid, I witnessed this first hand while in Hospital with a chest infection during the first lockdown and it broke my heart to see some some of the patients, particularly those with Dementia with no one to look out for them. Some people don't realise or care until they see it first hand or God forbid catch it themselves. Tina.x🤗
Thats not controversial Carolynn (hope I got that right) the Government said only essential travel or for work purposes only. When people travelled they knew exactly what they were doing. All these these so called 'stars' jetting off in the sun saying they had got work out there. Not only was it not essential travel it was against the spirit of it. These Morons don't realise we are locked up 24/7 most days, some of us on our own and I can see it being that way for a very long time. Tina.🤗
I guess I was trying not to be controversial, Tina . !!
What I meant was , lots of people travelling for business when zoom would do etc. Also government officials visiting hospitals factories etc. Rules need to be clear and tighter. No business lunches when restaurants are open . Led by example !!!
That’s great news (all a bit of a struggle isn’t it)! I’ve got my first on Thursday though no idea on the second - hope you get on ok with it + don’t have to travel too far. Anne-Marie. x
They offered me Thursday, I wanted it as soon as possible. Mine is in a church so i'll say a little prayer that I don't get too many side effects. Lol. Tina.x🤗
I agree with all you say Tina! Dreadful reading about the many men in cars going to the property near you. So many breaking sensible rules when sensible people and shielding people like us are virtually locked in our homes. Glad you’re having your jab! Keep safe Fran xx
Hi James , as Tico says this forum is for folk with certain rarer types of blood cancer so not really dedicated to Covid but obviously it's featured a good deal. My brother in law has similar symptoms to you after getting virus on Christmas Day. What defines long Covid I don't know. You might be better either contacting your GP or the NHS Covid helpline for expert advice.
Hi James, I am sorry to hear that you are feeling unwell after having COVID, as Chris has said, it would be best to contact your GP or the COVID helpline for advice on these symptoms. Do you have a MPN, if so it would be advisable to contact your haematology team for advice. Best wishes, Maz
Was it a work related trip to Dubai? If not, I'm afraid you must be able to understand why we are rather short on sympathy in this group. We all have a form of rare blood cancer or have a partner or relative with it. We are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable and find it incomprehensible that anyone would have chosen to travel abroad in these times, taking the virus to your destination or bringing it back with you. I can't offer any advice on your symptoms but I would advise you against any further travel, for everyone's sake. I hope you feel better soon.
