Well done you for trying, it is one of the things I never try to forget is to keep going and not let it take over our lives. However perhaps try to take it a little easier?
I also think that diet is a major factor in assisting us?
Very interesting blog anyway.
Jenny
Hey Jenny...
Thanks for your reply & compliments...
Diet has always been a factor in my MPN life in particular, so too exercise...
It is our seemingly inextricable "Human Condition" that has always made me most concerned, and our inability to view life through a 'Lens' other than that of our own...
C'est la vie...
Steve
PS. Hopefully, things might improve into the future...
Hi Steve, I just wanted to start by saying that anyone trying to cycle in 40 C would feel awful surely? While not trying to minise what happened to you that just sounds like a pretty rough scenario to try a big cycle. Please dont be too hard on yourself. You could always try again in better circumstances and more suited conditions if you can / want to, after you get a check up of course like you plan to at the docs. I would be happy to support your efforts in Australia just so u know. Thanks also for posting this article. Another really interesting bit of research this week. Gives us all hope. Brona X
Hey Brona...
Hope all's well in your world too...
Thanks for your message. I agree, and I too would have preferred a different day. However, if I want to Ride w/ others ... well, C'est la vie I guess...
BTW, I have ridden much longer Rides than this, this was just a long hard climb, up a very steep hill, on a very warm day... Not ideal... Still doesn't really explain what happened to my left leg in particular(?)
I'll be fine, I consulted my GP, he thinks it might have been another TIA, however, also suggests that it would be very hard to know now for certain(?) A blood test might determine some clues but nothing too definitive, is my understanding...
I am about to go for a shorter Ride this AM just to see how my legs might have recovered etc...
Thanks for your understanding & support Brona...
Best wishes
Steve
Hi Socrates
I think it was probably sustained pressure on your leg . The heat couldn’t have helped either. Well done to you ,that really couldn’t have been easy .
Stay safe
Best wishes

Hi Socrates
Please make sure you keep us all updated about your leg. I think it’s only natural given your history, to think the worse .
Best wishes
Kiki 🙂
Hi Steve, what a dreadful experience on your bike. I am glad you made it back in one piece .. Things like this really can dent your confidence and undermine your resolve, but I am sure you will pick yourself up and fight on. However, I can't imagine heat like that, let alone cycling in it. Are you saying the other cyclists were Ok with this? Best wishes for an early return to fitness.
I haven't read the article yet, but will have a go!
I have also been wondering how your transition to a vegan diet is going.
Hey there Bluetop...
Yes, I believe that my friend later regretted having to Ride on this day too... However, he still managed quite well...
Unlike myself; he doesn't have an MPN, isn't kept up most nights w/ aches & pains etc...
Unfortunately, when this occurs, (which is most evenings sadly), I must then wrestle w/ the idea of whether or not to take pain-killers, so I can sleep...(?)
Sadly, I am damned if I do, (& then try to go cycling), and damned if I don't, (cycling when I've not been able to have a good night's respite etc). Not much fun really...
Happy to report, went for my recovery Ride today, and while a tad slower than is my usual pace, I guess it went well enough... My left leg is still strange, and my GP thinks that it's entirely possible I may have had a small stroke of sorts, but it's virtually impossible to really know either way now...
Anyways, I feel fine and I am sure all will be will...
Thanks for your Post...
Steve
That's an alarming experience, I'm sorry you had to go through it. I agree with others that surely everyone would struggle in 40 degree heat, so it's pretty impressive that you tried. Hopefully your leg will be back to normal soon, it must help with recovery that you keep yourself so fit and eat so well.
Hi, Steve, I’ve always admired your resolve not to allow this disease to get the better of you. What happened to you sounds excruciatingly painful, and I’m happy to hear you’re feeling better now. I hope you do find out what the cause was, so you can avoid this horrible experience in the future. Also, I agree with EmeraldA, don’t be so hard on yourself. You always find a way to keep going.
Take care. I’m looking forward to seeing you on the Zoom call.
Cindy
Hey Steve - that sounds like a pretty grim experience! An uphill climb at 40o would be a considerable challenge for even the most professional cyclists. 😳 Maybe you got sunstroke. Glad to hear you’re somewhat recovered but I hope you’ll get yourself properly checked out before you head off again. Let us know how you’re doing.Bon courage!

Every year Steve,I have to do 'Epreuve d'eforte',which means pedalling a cycle like a fitness one. It gets harder & harder while my cardiologist checks on his computer thing.Last year my right leg got so tired & useless ,he stopped me .....then sent to an angio man for Doppler scans,,his fear was that an artery was blocked...however my arterys were fine..further tests ,X Ray's etc showed osteo arthritis....pain was dreadful had been for some time, still is I ignored it thinking it was horse related so it seems there are lots of things leg related. But heat ,Steve!!!It gets 30 to 40 s here in summer,I then cannot even go out never mind exercise of any sort.MP Ners are meant not to get too hot I am sure!!!!Brave try tho ,not to be repeated.
Hope you are fully recovered. Sally
Hey Sally...
Yes, I did try to persuade my cycling friend that we should do this on the w/end before but sadly to no avail...
Never mind, and all is well again I hope...
I shall be attempting that Ride again sooner rather than later, however, I will go at a time more suitable to me, and when it's a tad cooler too...
I shall avoid of course future 'Heated' exploits such as this was...
Stay safe & well...
Steve
Agree with you!. There is something related to the legs (in my case, left leg) . Can be some microcirculation problems? It is no posible check by Doppler or any scan. Is there anything to know about it?. Bemer works for me until now, with a strict PV diet, personalized exercise, cold showers, breathing exercise, microbiote, etc. Thanks for sharing
Hello,I cant open the link . Very interested. Can you send it again? Thanks
Hi Steve,What a palava! I hope you are getting the use of your leg back, take it easy, maybe you are pushing yourself a bit too hard and maybe keep out of the heat. Take care
Angelina
Hey there Angelina...
Thank you for your reply & empathy... That is a lovely message...
Some days, I really do feel like the fallen one, (Sisyphus), who displeased the Gods so much due to his arrogance... That as a punishment, he was forced to roll a huge boulder up an incredibly steep hill, and just before summiting, it would roll back down, and Sisyphus would be forced to repeat the task, over and over again... apparently for eternity...
Often, & especially when things are not going so well, it can be easy to forget just how fortunate my/our lives might truly be...
There was a news (interest) show on here a few evenings back, where a gentleman had to have all of his limbs amputated above his knees & elbows, and the story was about how he had to retrain himself at about 50 yo in order to be able to perform the most menial of tasks, that I am sure I take for granted everyday... So awe-inspiring!
This year "2020" has really been a rather 'Ironic' coincidence, given that it is certainly one to remember is it not?
Thanks Angelina, stay safe & well...
Steve
Hi Steve, How are you doing? How are your legs?
I hope all is well with you and your cycling ( keeping yourself out of the sun) or, are you sitting comfortably, preparing to watch the tennis.
Take Care
Best Wishes
Angelina
Hey Angelina...
Thanks for stopping by... Actually experienced another attack recently... At least now I understand a tad better what is going on...
However, I am now rebuilding to regain the strength of my left leg, so I can still undertake my Cycling For A Cure, ride commencing April 10, 2021...
(Circa 600km from Sydney & then North to Coffs Harbour, NSW)
Getting there slowly I guess...
Best wishes, stay safe & well...
Steve
Would an electric bike be cheating🙃 (just to help with the hills, take the strain off) How annoying and irritating Steve, 🥴 I hope your recovery is successful, pace yourself, April is not far along the track. At least it will be Autumn and not so 🥵 hot.
I used to love running, then I had to change to fast walking and now I'm a very slow mindful 10 minute pissed off walk.
I miss the early mornings the most but I am adapting 🤬🤗🙏
Best Wishes Steve, I will cheer for you April 10th.
Take great Care.
Angelina.😎
