THC?

I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping and have recently started to use 5 mg of THC with my CBD to see if that will help. I have PV and take Pegasys weekly ( the lowest dose). Cannabis is legal here in Oregon. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t use the THC? Does anyone have experience with this?

Hi ,

I have PV, Clopidogrel, Pegasys

I have been sleeping difficulties due to PV for over thirty years.. I started taking cbd oil 8% at the end of last year.( I actually take waterbased since it is absorbed faster) and it has been really great . It makes the hours I do sleep much better, the quality highly improved ( no effect on the erythromelalgia pains). Be sure to buy a good quality brand though. It has had no negative side effects (for example drowsiness during day) I wish I had tried it years before...

Some strains of THC are reputed to be effective for insomnia, but not all. It is a psychoactive substance and does have interactions with various medications. Definitely consult with your care team regarding its use. There is literature on this you can find. This is just one sample of potential impact of THC or CBD.

Bottom line is that if something can help you, then it can also hurt you. That is true for all medications and supplements. You may find it helpful to talk to an Integrative (Functional) Medicine doc. They tend to be more knowledgeable abut complimentary health approaches and interactions with supplements.

FYI - I also have chronic insomnia, which I believe is related to the deregulation of the JAK-STAT pathway (increased cytokine load). The only thing that has worked without adverse effects is Belsomra.

All the best to you. Hope you get some sleep.
