I was just wondering if anyone in England have heard if shielding is going to be extended?
I have seen in Wales and Scotland that they have done this but we still in England haven’t been given any info or pre warning of it happening
I’m only concerned as I have been shielding for 11 weeks this week and am due to return to work a week on Monday as had a 12 week doctors note but I am concerned that after all this hardship of staying at home is going to be undone by returning to work to early or returning to work and then the government deciding to extend the shielding time at a later date than my return as I am due to go back a week before the shielding date??
It would be nice to have a bit of notice and not have them say OK you can go back to work from Monday. Just to prepare myself for what protection and what precautions I will need to help me feel safe
I wonder if anyone has heard of what might be done??
Thanks

Hi Gunner73. I had a text from the nhs coronavirus service on the 14th may...
NHS Coronavirus Service: You have been identified as someone who may be at high risk of severe illness if you catch Coronavirus. You should have received a letter from the NHS to confirm this. The government are now advising you shield at home until 30 June unless told otherwise by a healthcare professional.
But I think gheh are reviewing it on the 15th..well that week as wales have been extended to mid august.
Hope that helps..if in doubt contact ur medical team n ask for guidance.
the advice on the Gov.uk website does say 'The Government is currently advising people to shield until 30 June 2020 and is regularly monitoring this position' the full details are available here
Have been shielding since March told til June 30th at least. Asked an MPN nurse by phone recently if it would be okay for a friend to visit if we sat in the garden. She said it would be better to wait until a low viral score was stable and she did not advise having a visitor. I live alone. Have no close family in this country - they moved, not me - but I managed to have a happy 77th birthday last week thanks to video calls, cards, neighbours leaving gifts in the porch and flower deliveries. 😀 I was dreading being alone on my birthday but it all worked out for the best. Good luck to all Shielders !!! Lets try to keep smiling no matter how long lockdown goes on for us. The risk for us is high.
As said previously June 30th date still seem current. Interestingly the latest advice on single households specifically excludes vulnerable shielded people.
Hi , Boris said in his briefing the other day that they are reviewing and will be announcing the next step for people shielding next week. Hope this helps a little bit.
