Hi, when I was first diagnosed a couple of weeks ago. My hemo. said that I was just like the general population in regards to vulnerability. Has that changed? I'm only on 75mg of Asprin. Thanks

Hi....

We actually come under the vulnerable group.. and you should be shielding. I’ll attach and link for you to read. Hope this helps. X

Thanks for the link but Bloodwise now seems to be a bit more vague about MPNs. It was very specific the other day. It specifically stated MPNs were included. I still find it very confusing. Government Website doesn't specially mention MPNs. I guess as this a new virus things will constantly change as more data is collected and analysed.

Your Situation is the same as mine only on Aspirin

My haematologist here in Berlin has advised exactly the same as yours and also see the info posted from the Guys team by Maz dated 30th March

It is more detailed and specific

Our conditions are varied, there are also secondary factors like age medication other conditions etc

Hi I guess it is a little different in NZ. I have ET only on aspirin too. I am classed as essential worker as a nurse so I keep working at my local hospital. Pleasing to say the patient load in the whole hospital is very lite and has been the two weeks on lockdown!! Which is great. All elective surgery has stopped which is part the reason In my ward. I work in ward which has been classed as a green zone. Red zone is where any COVID 19 patients would go. As to now there has been none! Long may it stay. Hoping our numbers of new cases in NZ are starting to drop!! Two more weeks of lockdown!! But we well wait and see what will happen then. Cheers Lyn NZ

I've had a letter and two phone calls to tell me I'm vulnerable and need to be shielding.

Yet can't get an online food delivery

It's nightmare.

Sharing with my neighbour at present. She's in the same boat

My elderly mum who lives with me is shielding she's 86... they've forgotten about her.

If you have a letter sign up for Sainsbury’s- that's what my friend did - it took about a week as they are so inundated but she now gets deliveries and your mum should def be getting - get on to her GP

Of course, it’s fine as long as you respect social distancing

I’m the same as you - ET and only on aspirin. My haem also gave me the save advice - I’m no more vulnerable than anyone else my age. But like anyone wise, I’m taking every sensible precaution - but I still duck out quickly to do necessary grocery shopping and to go on long walks

Hi.

I found the info from Guys posted by Madz 30th March very helpful. If you to look at the document you will see that it’s only those in certain medication that are high risk etc.

I have PV and only taking Aspirin therefore no more vulnerable than general public. However I’m being slightly more cautious.

I’d follow this guideline.

I had a letter from Guys which said the same as your haematologist- I have Primary Myelofibrosis and am on asprin and Hydroxy and 68 but my risk level is the same as the general population.

I'm just on aspirin and haven't had a letter from the NHS to say I'm vulnerable so we are okay.
