Hi all out there. Not been active for weeks now. Can anyone tell me how I can reverse my anemia. Waiting to hear back for an appointment with my Consultant. I’m just so exhausted. I’ve been off work for weeks now and only Judy gone back. Still exhausted!!! Any advice please.

Just been told I am anemic

Hi Diam, what is the cause of your anaemia? Some of us who have Polycythaemia are deliberately kept on the anaemic side of normal in order to control the number of red blood cells we have.
If you are supposed to be anaemic, I think you have to listen to your body and rest but also eat and drink in as healthy a way as possible. If you are not supposed to be anaemic, then definitely visit your GP soon.
Kindest regards
Aime x😺
Hi Diam,I have just had tests for all vit and minerals etc ,all normal ,I am still going thru a ghastly exhaustion that I cannot get rid of,sleep loads,I am P V.Surely it's the disease we have.Hope you soon feel better..Best to you .
Hi Sally. This is nothing to do with the previous post, but to say I hope we can make contact at the MPN day in London in November. I've lived and taught in France many moons ago and I tend to gravitate to anything or anybody from France. I too have PV and my husband and I have both put our names down for the PV workshop, so perhaps we might meet up then. Unfortunately, apart from France, that's the other thing we have in common. See you there.
Sandra
Hi Sandra, will look out for you...should be in U K now,but all sailings cancelled,so tomorrow we set off now from S W Fr. Long drive to Northern Fr Ports....dogs with us hoping for a month's stay at daughters farm....assuming P V behaves. Keep Well .Sally
Hi Diam, I had a similar eperience back in May this year when I was told I was anemic. As I'd had PV for 12 years, and been stable, I assumed it had something to do with my underlying PV. However I subsequently had a number of tests to check for internal bleeding (endoscopies, CT scan) before eventually having a bone marrow biopsy. I think, perhaps, that the BMB should have been done as soon as I was diagnosed with anemia and not left until August. A sudden, significant and persistent change in blood results should at least raise the consideration of having a BMB. My BMB result lead to my local generalist haem telling me that I now have myelofibrosis. I'm due to see an expert at the QE in B'ham at the end of the month for a 2nd opinion and, hopefully, to establish a treatment pathway. I don't want to cause you any worry but anemia can be caused by by either ET, PV transitioning to MF and so I think you should atleast ask the consultant about this just to rule it out. Good luck.
hi I have Et, anaemia has always been an issue.it still is, I'm always boarder line. Now I take chia seeds on cereal every morning. Take vitimin c with protein. Apparently it helps iron to be absorbed not the blood stream. I think it helps keep me just in the normal range.
