My doc has put me on twice a day aspirin and twice a day eliquis (anti-coagulent). Been taking it for over a month now and seemingly no issues. Though yesterday and continuing today I am feeling a bit more light headed than usual. Perhaps its totally unrelated. I'll be starting on Pegasys shortly, but curious if anyone else has been on eliquis longer-term and dealt with any side effects?

Hi, I’ve been on Eliquis a few years without any side effects except for increased bruising. I take one 81mg (baby) aspirin daily & 2.5 mg Eliquis twice a day. You should call your doctor. We often assume our physical issues are related to our MPN &/or medication when they can be something unrelated. Good luck, hope everything is ok. Katie
They put me on a daily baby aspirin four years ago for an MI I had. I was still on it when I had a TIA so clearly wasnt thinning my blood enough hence twice per day though the hematologist admits there is no research to support two per day is beneficial. My cardiologist recommended the eliquis given the clotting that must have occurred since I had the TIA. Neither reduces platelets just thins the blood and makes it difficult to clot.
The pegasys I am about to start should actually reduce the platelet count.
I was on Eliquis twice. The first time was post-pregnancy for 6 weeks. I would say I felt like crap but being post-pardum in my 40's, with ET was kind of a recipe for feeling like crud, if I do say so myself. Then, 8 months later I had a blood clot in my colon and was put on Eliquis for a while and it made me feel terrible. I had to come off it. I just felt like I was on another planet all the time and unbelievably tired.
