Hello Godfata, sorry to hear you are having this problem, you will need to discuss with your consultant an alternative medication to Hydroxycarbamide as you can no longer take that because of the ulcers, I hope they clear up soon. Kind regards, Maz

I’m sure others with first hand experience will respond but my understanding is that the ulcers should heal once off the hydroxy. As Maz says you’ll need to discuss with your haematologist a replacement drug. Hope your legs are better very soon.

I developed a spontaneous ankle ulcer on hydrea. After 4 months my MPN specialist saw a cell phone image and immediately took me off of Hydrea. 6+ months later I was healed. The ball of the ankle is a bad place to get a wound.

You are experiencing a well established sign of toxicity to Hydrea. But my wound specialist, my dermatologist, and 2 GPs did not make the connection. Only my MPN specialist.

I do not understand why you are advised to discontinued Hydrea. You should be taken off and treated with something else.
