MORE RESEARCH FOR LONG TERM PATIENT MAINTENANCE - Over Finding A Cure

Morning all... :D

This next article is becoming the more typical form of research that we are increasingly hearing of in these days of managing an illness, in preference to curing one!

Logically, I suppose it makes better business sense, because the pharmaceutical companies have the patient for a much longer period than they would if the patient was cured of course.

Hence, while I do find the research of interest, I believe understanding the point of why its being done should be for the Patient's benefit before the company's resources are increased at their expense, in my view..

Stay safe & well...

Best wishes

Steve

One would hope that research into both maintenance/management and curative approaches would both occur. I expect it is a good thing the pharmaceutical companies are not the only ones funding research as they may indeed be more interested in a captive base than seeing people freed of the need for on-going medicines (AKA - perpetual revenue stream). Hate to sound cynical, but pharmaceutical companies are not entirely philanthropic in nature.

Hey Hunter... :-)

Precisely, that was my point here too...

Another reason why, I/we here 'Down Under' have started our own 'NFP' Australian Health Promotion Charity, where we Fundraise, and then in turn endeavour to direct that research into areas that might prove more useful, like finding a real CURE!

I expect the real cure will lie in gene editing. Perhaps someday the technology will enable us to do that. Until then, less toxic - more beneficial maintenance is what we will need to use. Good on y'all for getting your own funding going.

Cheers buddy... 8-)

I abhor having to take any type of drug, of any description...

Hopefully, someday, we will as you suggest ... Just flick 'off or on' a gene transmitting switch, and truly be over so many illnesses types, into the future of course...

Best wishes

Why do you say that this article makes clear that maintenance is preferred over a cure? My English not perfect,so i may missed the point

Hey Aneliv...

Just because we almost never hear of research that is actually looking for a cure...
