Itching, "pin points", crawling insects

ET, Jak2 positive. Taking 500mg hydra, 81 mg aspirin daily for 6 months. In the past month or so have had itching. Sometimes feels like a bugs are crawling on me. Or, little pins stuck in me. No indications of PV, at least blood doesn't say so. Is it the MPN itself, or the hydrea? It gets worse when I think about it. Shower does NOT make it worse. Anyone have this as a passing phase, permanent??

For what it is worth, I was reading about amino acids and it said that excess of arginine can cause a crawling sensation on the skin. Not that you are likely to have too much arginine but it made me think, maybe too much of something causes these sensations, it could even be the added ingredients in vitamin pills, could be your washing detergent. Detective work is needed.

ET here as well, no itching at all. Dr asked about this at my last appt. I am progressing to something but not sure what. Thought itching was more associated with PV?

Hello MPN123, I have ET and I am jak2 positive and it is treated with aspirin and Hydroxycarbamide. I have had the disease for nearly 20 years and yes in the past had episodes when it felt as though ants were crawling across my skin, very uncomfortable. I did mention this to the hospital but they did not think it was related to ET or Meds. I moisturise daily as my skin is really dry and have used itch relief cream in the past. I have not had the itchy sensation for a while, hopefully you will find an answer. Hope this helps.

I have awful itching and feeling of insects jumping/crawling when my platelets are high (which they are at the moment). As soon as my head touches the pillow I get noises then this awful feeling on my skin. I am so tired as it wakes me up during the night. Oh how I would love to sleep the whole night through!! I have been given more chemo to take, but my platelets are still increased. I absolutely hate it but nothing seems to stop it. My skin also seems to be more attractive to mosquitoes and I have an awful bite on my neck which has swollen and is now infected- now on antibiotics to try and clear it up. I sympathize with you and hope all goes well for you. Best wishes

Itching is agony! My first haematologist, when I was diagnosed with ET in 2001, said that is is a symptom of the disease. For quite a few years, mine hasn't been too bad, but it started again when I was switched to Pegasys. One night, half asleep, I scratched myself so vigorously that I drew blood! Mine seems to be easing off lately, but I do sympathize with you.
