Just thought I would post an update on my swollen feet, ankles and painful legs.
My GP got me to keep a record of my blood pressure without taking my blood pressure tablets for a week. My results were good so she said for me to stop taking them and so far so good my feet, legs and ankles have been good. She done blood tests for protein in my heart and checked my liver and kidneys which were good. Such a relief. So, it seems at the moment stopping the blood pressure tablets have worked! Who knows, hopefully it will carry on this way.

Any med that can help you can also hurt you. I have also had trouble with lisinopril, atenolol, and diltiazem. The one med that worked great with no side effects is losartan. We each respond differently to these meds. Sometimes it just takes some trial and error to figure it out. Glad to hear you figured this one out.
I would also note that there are two things that helped my BP even more than the pills. Over a year I started of regimen of phlebotomy for my PV and lost 50 pounds. My BP went from 135/95 to 115/75. The doc dropped my losartan down to 12.5mg qd - which is half of the lowest dose (just as a precaution/prophylaxis due to hx of hypertension). Decreased blood viscosity is really important in controlling BP. Losing the weight and getting in better shape really helped too. I did the weight loss with an app on my phone (Lose It).
Thank you for your reply. That’s very interesting. It could be. So far they have been good since stopping my blood pressure tablets. I will see if they flare up again . Take care
