Myelofibrosis and bloodshot eye

Has anyone with Myelofibrosis experienced blood in an eye? My husband has Myelofibrosis and woke up a couple of days ago with the outer part of the white his right eye blood-red. It had dissipated somewhat later the next day but now (day three) his whole eye is somewhat bloodshot. Just wondering whether I should consult the specialist nurse for advice.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I should add that his platelets can range between 41 and 75. I checked his blood pressure and it was okay.

I had the same but it went by itself. Sorry I cant remember how long it took but it wasn't overly long. I'm MF x 10 years.

Thank you both. My husband has had MF for four and a half years. He had PV for 27 years before progressing. Been on Ruxolitinib f one and a half years and EPO injections for four months. Hope you are doing okay Eire66.

I have ET and also get occasional blood shot eyes, they seem to come from nowhere but disappear after a couple of days. They look horrendous while they're there though.

Thank you -seems that it’s not unusual or anything to worry about. It is disconcerting to see an eye half covered in blood but it has been reassuring to get your replies-thank you. This is day four and it’s now just a bit blood shot all over the white.

Sounds like a subconjunctival haemorrhage- usually painless and don't affect vision and don't usually have to do anything. We are more prone being on aspirin and if platelets low too. Useful to keep an eye on the blood pressure if happens again. Can occur out of blue or with coughing/sneezing or if BP up but don't usually need any treatment and fade over few days. Glad its settling down.
