Has anyone else on this forum had PV and moderate risk of familial breast cancer?

I have been diagnosed with pv for 2 years managing to maintain levels with venesections 3-6 monthly. I have always known at some point I’d b advised to take medication as a preventative for my risk of familial breast cancer.

Now being post menapausal they r advising to start aromatose inhibitors to reduce my risk.

My haematologist is consulting with his colleagues but I wondered if Madz or anyone else has had experience and/or knowledge of this? Ie side effect in relation to pv or problems with clotting or impact on pv generally.

Many thanks Sanga

Hi Sanga, if your consultant is checking with the team at Guy’s then that’s good, best to therefore wait for the reply from them as they will have been given all the relevant details by your haematologist. Maz

Thanks mazcd. Not sure if it’s guys he’s checking with. He didn’t mention them specifically. I might check that with him when he responds.
