Hello Vipulm12 , Just a thought on your query , I have to take quite a large range of pills per day and when I started this regime I was advised to eat before and during my diet of meds. It has worked for me as it seems to protect my stomach. Before \i had this advice or times I cant eat but take the meds I too get horrible stomach ach. Only relieved by eating or drinking . Try it and see fif it helps you and good health to you .

Hey Vipulm... :-)

Like Jane mentions below... Do you know if the Aspirin you are taking are what is called: 'Enteric-coated'?

When they were not enteric-coated, I suffered from a range of problems, and most of them disappeared after making the switch. Why some medical people don't instantly think about this issue is slightly bizarre to my way of thinking... When it is such a simple solution!

Best wishes

Hi Steve,

Iam taking ecosprin only.... didn't take one yesterday and my tummy feels light today but discomfort is still there, and having severe headache....

But is it 'Enteric-coated'? It should say so on the packaging... :-)

The Enteric-coating protects the stomach wall/lining from the aspirin's harsh constituents...

If you are unsure, ask your GP for 'Enteric-coated' aspirin only...

:-)

Best wishes

Steve

I think eco stands for enteric coated

Vipulm... :-)

Eco - is usually code for less harmful etc...

However, my guess is if the words 'Enteric-coated' are not on the packaging, then I would assume that they are not 'Enteric-coated'...

But that's just me... :-)

Hi Vipulm12

Perhaps you could ask you Doctor to check you out for Helicobacter pylori. H. pylori is a type of bacteria that infects the stomach. About a third of Australian adults carry the bug, but many don’t realise they have it. Once detected, H. pylori is easily treated. This bacteria can cause stomach inflammation (gastritis) and more serious conditions such as stomach ulcers, stomach cancer and is the cause of many strokes.

H. pylori is a type of bacteria that infects the stomach. It is the most common infection in the world and is more common in developing countries. It can damage the stomach’s lining, making it more vulnerable to stomach acid.

Anyone who is infected with H. pylori eventually develops gastritis but they may not show any symptoms.

If you are infected with this bacteria, you are more likely than other people to develop ulcers or cancer of the stomach.

If you’re diagnosed with a stomach ulcer caused by H. pylori, your doctor is likely to treat you with a mix of antibiotic medicines and acid suppressing medication to kill the bacteria. It worked for me and it was gone in a week.

Aspirin would cause an uncomfortable Heart burn sensation in the stomach of a person with Helicobacter. I have had it and it caused an incisional ulcer.

Good luck

Anna

I will have to have endoscopy to detect it??

Vipulm12

Yes and no. One way they detect it is by having you blow into a bag. I had the endoscopy because at the time I was living in Bahrain and I knew I had an ulcer. It is worth getting checked out.

Cheers Anna

How do u deal with the gag reflex.....is the procedure painful??

Vipulm12

You are under general antiseptic so you don' feel anything. You may only need to blow into a bag. It is worth checking and also make sure the aspirin you take has a coating or is taken after food as someone mentioned.

Having it tested is the good thing, having it untreated is when it may cause an Ulcer.

Do not be concerned. The procedure is rather quick. It is a day procedure. Good Luck
