Hi

Just a question to ask now my platelets have gone into normal range,why do I need to keep taking aspirin daily, ?

I would imagine to stop blood clots in future

it’s not just how many platelets, it’s also how sticky they are, us with MPN tend to have sticky platelets, hence aspirin needed, best discuss with Haem though

Because the risk of thrombosis is not in a linear relationship to the number of platelets. It is not just how many. it is how the platelets behave. See the comment by ainslie.

Hi Jody00! I asked my Haematologist this very question and the short answer is to prevent platelets from becoming sticky.

Okay I did ask Dr on Monday when discussing this week has I ask am on aspirin aswell he said yes,I just thought when being in normal range might not need take aspirin has thought be less risk from bloods being less sticky but glad to ask on here to double check from u all.

my platelets are in range , but they can go up against times so NO do not stop Asprin please
