Measles vaccine live attenuated

Has anyone had this vaccine since dx?

My understanding is that MPN patients should avoid.

In view of the current outbreak of measles, this is a bit of a concern for those of us who have managed to avoid measles when young.

Anyone know what the risks are if we do have the vaccine, especially if on Interferon?

Best Paul

Best wishes & hope you have it sorted shortly

Steve

I would be checking with your Haematologist but as far as I was aware we shouldn’t have any live vaccines.

Had my transplant 7+ years ago and was told that my transplant centre doesn’t routinely give the measles jab afterwards although I had my other childhood innoculations 18 months out. However some centres do. Was told that if I was going to travel to certain locations then the hospital would advise whether the jab or the potential to catch the disease was more risky. However, when I followed this thru two years ago the transplant nurse sent me to their travel clinic who said it wasn’t their call and referred me to a web site.

Coincidentally I wrote to my transplant specialist asking for advice two days ago as we will be travelling overland through various Baltic countries soon and measles is on the rise there. Will share when I get a response

Advice from Prof Harrison: Most people have had measles if they are really worried they should speak to their team or GP and consider being tested to see if they have antibodies.
