Pins and needles

I am waiting to be seen ay Guys in Sept because my red cell count is too high. This week I have been driven mad by constant pins & needles in my arms and hands and if i raise my arms up at all (like holding the steering wheel!) my hands go numb. I've had it on and off for months but its really bad this week. I've been drinking lots but its not helping. Any ideas?

Hi Vicki, do you know how high it is? Do you have to wait til September for appointment? Your GP might arrange a blood test for you. This is what I do if I have concerns. Then results provide the evidence about what I should do or not do. I have no idea what your symptoms mean so sorry can't comment on them.

Good luck

My last blood test was in June, the Red cell count was 5.35 &

MCV 82.6, HGC 151,

Sept is the soonest Guys can do my 1st apt. I dont have a diagnosis but am Jak2 neg.

Maybe I'll get another test done as my spleen has been niggly for a couple of weeks too.

Thankyou

Hi Vicky, it may be better to speak to your GP about the pins and needles, just to get it checked out, it is very easy to blame all new symptoms on our MPNs when they may not be connected to it at all and you have something else going on, I don't want to worry you, but don't ignore symptoms. Best wishes, Maz

Hi Maz

Thankyou. I couldn't get a gp apt for a couple of weeks but they did a blood test form for me to get a fbc done at local hospital today x
