Yes I had previously wondered why it was one standard dose, as like Mary says, the dose of a drug is often related to weight. I'm under 70kg and on 100mg (the usual dose I think for the little ❤️ shaped pills here) so this shouldn't affect me, but I would expect that there are a LOT of people out there taking the 75mg dose that are over 70kg, especially men. Let's hope they resolve whether there are any grounds for changing the dose sooner rather than later for the sake of those taking it for protection!
Hi. I have ET and was on 75mg aspirin with hydroxy until I had a TIA just over a month ago. My stroke consultant said aspirin wasn't effective enough and put me on to clodripogel, which is stronger. I weigh 87kg.
My Haem said that aspirin is cumulative and suggested I took 75mg on alternate days to check whether this is causing the 'rushing' noise I get in my ears. She said it wouldn't affect its effectiveness. (It didn't make any difference so I reverted to 1 tab a day as it is easier to keep track of). I am over 70kg.
About 2 years ago, my Hem increased my aspirin from 1 once per day to 1 twice per day, about 12 hours apart. I am well under 75kg. The logic was that with the fast proliferation of platelets with an MPN, there would be a period where new platelets were not affected by the aspirin. He actually said that ideally, one would take a low-dose aspirin every 19 hours. He joked that he didn't want me calling him at 3:00 AM so that I could share my pain at interrupted sleep. (I am in the US)
