hello
my husband is 36 with Essential Thrombocythaemia Calr type 1 and on aspirin only he has received a letter for the Pneumococcal vaccine but I’m wondering is it safe to take with having ET?
yes very safe and a must. I have ET jAK 2 pos and had no problems with the jab
I took the vaccine with having PV. No issues with the PV but took at the same time as Flue Vaccine. Much stronger reaction. Won't do the combo again.
Hi, I was the same age when diagnosed with ET and then only on asprin too, it was recommended then that I have the vaccine, I was happy to have it and had no issues
It would be sensible to check with your husband’s doctor, as each of us is different, but I have ET and had the pneumococcal vaccine with no problem.
jak 2 and had no problems
Hi, yes I have had it and this was recommended by my haematologist, you only need to have it once. If it keeps us safe then I do not hesitate.
thank you, I’ve just googled and I too am eligible. No one has mentioned it to me before. I will look into it.
I reacted quite badly to the jab....a swelling the size of my palm on my arm and a very high temperature for a few days....the swelling, erythema and heat took around a month to resolve . It was also quite painful.
I am not telling you this to be negative.....more to inform you that it's not quite as straight forward for everyone, as we are all different x
