Hope you are all enjoying this bout of glorious weather without getting overheated as we do.
I have been having steroid injections in my shoulder and since my last visit I have been put back on Hydroxy. When I went for my injection this time she asked any change in medication. She visibly paled when I said Hydroxy and said no she couldn't inject, to ask my haematologist when I see him next. My question is, has anyone had a steroidal injection whilst taking hydroxy.
Stay safe in the sun.

Steroid injections ouch!! Frozen shoulder?? I think because steroids can lower your immunity, as can Hydroxy sometimes, they are more cautious becuase of the porential for a combined effect. But check with your haemotologist that your blood counts are okay and seek their advice re steroid injection. I hope the shoulder eases.
I have had regular steroid injections into my feet and ankles while taking hydroxy. They are done by an orthopaedic surgeon and he knows I am on hydroxy but has never suggested that is a problem. Karen
Left shoulder but right is also giving me grief. Spleen has not been palpated in forever, I presume because my bloods have been pretty stable. I have already had 2 injections which are helping from being totally frozen to being usable, but have been back on Hydroxy for 2 weeks now , started in between injection appointments. . Thanks for all the input, I see Haematologist 1st Aug, so will check.
Hi Ann, I have ET and on Hydroxy. When I had my total knee replacement four years ago now to help with pain after the operation I was given two rounds of steroid injections, I did check with my Haematologist and he said this was fine, and I must admit it did help, also gave me. Chilli cream to rub in which was amazing.
I have had several steroid injections in my knees while on hydroxy, I'm on Anagrelide now, no more steroids - but only because they don't work for me anymore, got to have both of my knees replaced - when I've lost more weight!
