Hello Everyone,

I was diagnosed almost one year before with ET.Currently on plavix only.Recently I developed scarry symptoms. At first they come n go once or twice a week, but now almost many times in a day.I feel like difficulty in breathing n chest tightness on left side, some times dull ache deep down in my heart. My scheduled appointment with Haemotologist is in August.Should I go for early analysis of my symptoms, or its sumthing ususual in ET patients.? I am hypothyroid person also, n on 150 mcg levothuroxine per day also..

Get checked out by your doctor asap, don't take any chances by just guessing or thinking it'll be right.

Hi Mustabshra,

I think you should get your heart checked. I was diagnosed with ET 6 years ago, last year I started getting chest pain. I had an angiogram which revealed significant cornonary disease in 2 of the coronary arteries, I had to have 4 stents inserted and I’m now ok but monitored. My cardiologist said in his opinion the artery deteriation was due to ET and he had seen it in other ET patients as well.

Please try not to worry, I wish you all the best.

Sue

Thanks a lot Suekj for ur kind wishes. I am very much aware that ET patients can have heart problems and we are at much higher risks of cardiac arrest and strokes, thats what my dr. Told me. My prayers for ur healthy heart. It is appreciatable that ucaught ur problm early..I am very much convinced also to get check my heart asap.

I would get checked out. Better safe than sorry. I'm from America. I'm trying to figure out if people from this sight are from all over, or just the UK.

Hi. Having been on this forum a few years I’d say the majority of folks are from the UK but we also have folks from US (me included), Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, actually I should simply say many countries all over the world. Katie

Just do go and get checked out as soon as you can as none of those symptoms should come with the usual running of ET so you need a check over to see what's happening. Take care and all the best

That's interesting because I am et Jak2 and can relate as I also have the same symptoms and they are scary. The shortness of breath and pain left side chest, extensive sweeting and today I experienced the most horrific pain from bi lateral leg cramps that happened twice. I do not have any idea what is going on with my ET.

cheers Anna

Hi again, you may want yr doctor to check for blood clots. You also may have pulmonary embolisms causing the difficulties in breathing. That had been my problem before HU & blood thinners. Let us know what you learn. Katie

Indeed agreed..

Hope you’re ok. Also ask any drs you see to check your spleen - they can palpate or take an ultrasound - lhs pain could be your spleen. Mine makes me breathless sometimes. Also check for vascular angina as well as microvascular clots. Fingers crossed it’s not serious xx

Go to your doc. I just got diagnosed with AFib, our diseases can affect the heart. I thought it was anxiety.
