Anyone know if a HB of 112 could cause a tight chest? I’m in a&e and doctors are struggling to come up with an explanation.

Low HB
Thankfully. Heart attack ruled out.
Can't be of any help really Eleanor, having ET, except to say I did have severe beathlessness and still do sometimes and was sent for an MRI and a chest X-ray, came back all clear for heart and lungs, still no idea here, just another of these things to put up with.
I do hope you feel better soon and they can find a reason for it. So many unknowns in these conditions. Thinking of you! Grace.
I'm talking rubbish Eleanor, I had an ECG not an MRI ! Got my initials mixed up. Too early for me and not had my one cup of coffee yet. x
Hi Eleanor,
My Hb is currently lower than that. So I don’t think so.
I’ve gone to a and e a few times.
They’ve all been the same reason. Too weak to talk, chest feeling restricted, it takes about 3 days to a week to fully recover. It’s all down to overexertion.
I’m also aware that there can be a lung issue though, and medical intervention is required. X
Been admitted to hospital. Hoping the cardiologist is being over cautious. Ruling out a PE.
Hi Eleanor. My experience is that low hgb can bring angina like symptoms. We are all different so can't expect symptoms of others to be ours. Do you know whether your red cells are normal or small. Small ones can't carry as much oxygen and result in angina like symptoms. I wonder if a hem looked at you when you were in hospital.
How do you know if your red cells are too small? Does this reflect in your HB reading?
So sorry to hear this. Hope you get to the bottom of it. My experience has been that low Hb levels and low ferritin levels can bring on all kinds of breathlessness and tight chest issues - though certainly nothing anything near severe enough to warrant a visit to A&E. JSKly is right. Have a look at your MCV count. My haem much more interested in that than ferritin levels. The smaller the platelet the more ineffective. Hope you feel better very soon. 💐
Hope you feel better soon. Mel x
The only experience i have had is that i occasionally get a tight chest when blood flow is not good. I then spend some time breathing deeply and mindfully to help the oxygen flow.
Update. No definitive answer, as yet.,HB 111. Hospital have ruled out heart attach and PE. ECG shows elevated p wave. I’m not sure if this is significant. I’ve contacted my haematologist (awaiting his response). Seeing my GP today. Sore head is making me feel sick.
Anxiety or in my case PMF, this time. Last time was a pulmonary artery that required a stent. Hope your medics find the reason.
Dear Eleanor, so glad you had good news regarding your heart - I’m sure that’s a relief! And it’s great the meds are helping with the migraines - there’s nothing worse than living with a constant headache. In my case it’s what lead me to consult the doctor and discover I have PV. Hope you continue to feel better.
