Hi I take Zestril, Asprin, Thyroxin and omeprazole when needed, along with Hydroxy, I make sure I space all of them out, do not take all at once.

Hi Superwoman!

I'm interested in your comment about taking these medications throughout the day.

Both my GP and the Haematologist advised taking all my meds (hydroxycarbamide, Perindopril, Amlodipine, Atorvastatin, Indapamide, Levothyroxine, Clopidogrel, Lanzaprozole, and Allopurinol) together, first thing in the morning. It's my pre-breakfast!

Is the spacing a decision you've made or is it on doctor's advice?

Thanks

I do not take through the day, it’s just that I need to take Thyroxin first thing in the morning before breakfast as it can effect the way some other medicines work so take as soon As I get out of bed, then before breakfast I take my blood pressure tablet, then after breakfast the Asprin and Hydroxy, taking the Asprin after food helped my stomach immensely as I have had an ulcer in the past, so this regime I find is good for me as I was finding when I took all in one go one would counteract the other and was getting a few problems and I could not determine which one of the tablets was causing the problem, so Doctors suggested that I space out before and after breakfast also when I was on Statins I took them before going to bed but as I reacted badly to Statins I do not take now, just changed and improved my diet, took a lot more exercise and drink lots of water, and now my Doctors are really pleased with all my results, long may it last!!! does not work for everyone, but this is my chosen path and it works for me, everyone is different.

Hi, I take spironolactone, ramipril and indapamide for blood pressure. I also take Lansoprazole when required as well as Metformin & Pioglitazone for diabetes, Allopurinol for gout, all on top of the Hydroxycarbamide. I then walk about all day rattling. I sometimes take beer but that's a different story.

I take 2.5mg Indapamide, 8mg Perindopril and 10mg Amlodipine daily, together with 5000mg Hydroxycarbamide weekly and 75mg Clopidogrel daily and several of the things mentioned by others above.

If you're worried about the combination, don't be. Nothing unpleasant's happened so far!

I was a bit worried about the combination but when I see what some people have to take, I think I shouldn’t really worry! Thankyou for replying!

It's natural! We all get anxious about a change in medication. I never like it because I never like to admit to myself that my body is gradually declining. However, I'm also getting older, so it's probably not much different to normal aging.

I try look on medication positively: it keeps me alive and helps me maintain a good quality of life. I shall always be grateful for the doctor who spotted my polycythaemia. Without the tablet fest each morning, I'd probably have had a another stroke or worse, missed out on my grandchildren, sailing, motorcycling, scuba, cooking and all the other things I enjoy.

Controlling this changing condition is certainly worthwhile. Embrace it! It's a small price to pay.
