Does anyone know whether this year's flu jab is ok to have with our conditions/medications?
Flu jab: Does anyone know whether this year's flu... - MPN Voice
Flu jab
Hi Nivana, I have PV but not on meds other than for itch. I have taken the flu jab over the last 4 years with no additional problems than a "normal" person might experience, I.e slightly fluey, sore arm, etc.
Some of the others on the forum who were on meds have had it in the past I know but I'll let them tell you about it. I usually ask my GP or haem if I'm trying anything new for the first time.
Kind regards Aime xx😺😺
Hi nirvana,
I'm on Hydroxy and have a flu jab every year. You just have to check it's not a live vaccine. I always check before I have it. ( we cannot have live vaccines )

Hi Nivana, I am having my flu jab tomorrow, my haematologistsaid said it is a must, this strain has been the cause of many deaths in Australia, this year. The only one I understand we cannot have because it is a live vaccine, is the shingles jab, which you get when you turn seventy.
I have had the flu vaccine now for quite a few years, but This year I am having it done in the evening surgery with a nurse, as in the past I have queued with lots of other patients on a Saturday and have ended up being really unwell within twenty four hours afterwards, nothing to do with the jab but coming into contact with people who have either colds or upset stomachs, well this is what my GP has said, so hence the reason I am having it done separately away from the queuing this year, and hopefully it will be fine. But it is very important to have, because our immune systems are a tad compromised.

I asked my consultant and he said yes,no ahead with the flu jab. Best wishes, Frances.
"Go ahead" - sorry! Frances.
Hello.... I have been on hu for years and years.... I always have the flu jab and had this year's yesterday evening. Check with your GP if you are unsure although my GP gave me my jab yesterday!
