I too have recently started hearing this noise, but before I started taking Hydroxy and Aspirin. I put it down to wax in my ears but it could be due to ET ... interesting.
I am currently using ear drops in the hope that it is wax, however after three days it hasn't resolved the problem.
You need to get it checked but it's probably tinnitus. I've had it for 14 months now. Nothing to do with PV or drugs. I've had a brain scan and all clear so just have to put ip with it. Mine is only in one ear and is a high pitched ringing. Very annoying and varies from being very loud to not so bad.
I have suffered from tinnitus for the last 15 years long before I was diagnosed with ET. I noticed however that taking aspirins and other painkillers makes it much worse,
I suffered from the same thing, it sounded like a "squish" with each pulse. I don't think it's tinnitus, it seem's more of a blood flow issue. I was naughty and did not take aspirin ( I'm on hu) but when I started taking it and drinking a little more water the squish is rarely heard now.
Another possibility, do you or anyone else with this issue have neck problems?
Hi like you said it's more like a blood flow . Like you get if you are anxious and heart beating fast and then feel it in my ears. It isn't there all the time though. Not aware of any neck problems . My mum has hearing problems though. Will see what docs say
Thanks for your reply and I hope your noise stays away .
Hi..I'm PV jak2 -ve and when it's quiet have a constant ringing in my ears. I'm only on aspirin and having venesections. When I was reading up about PV it said ringing in the ears was a symptom. Claire x
