ET and antibiotics.

70 yrs old, ET, JAK2+, Hydroxycarbamide 500-1000mg daily, Warfarin 5mg, aspirin 81mg, factor V Leiden, peripheral neuropathy, intense burning in toes, no finger prints, numb aching shaking hands. Bone pain. Poor circulation. Slightest wounds won't heal and almost always infected. Any suggestions, issues, problems with antibiotics?

I developed problems with wounds that didn't heal after 3 years on hydroxy. Anti biotics made no difference. Ended up seeing a dermatologist who said it was the hydroxy. I was changed onto Anagrelide and they cleared up and no skin problems since. The neuropathy in my feet has been greatly helped with Amitryptilene, it takes a couple of weeks to kick in but it's brilliant when it does, no more burning etc. Someone else told me about the Amitryptilene and when I mentioned it to my GP he said "oh yes it's good for that" why he hadn't prescribed it to me when I first said about the neuropathy I don't know! Anagrelide isn't suitable for everyone, it gave me heart palpitations at first but they have faded now. Hope you can get some relief!

Best wishes

Lizzie

Morning Jerry

Your post virtually describes me and my side effects! I have ET and I'm on 3x 500mgs Hydroxycarbomide, aspirin and Invabradamine for palpitations. The burning feet, aching muscles and joints I suffer with terribly. I take Glucosamin for my joints which does help a little. My consultant basically told me its the side effects and they should subside over time, that was 11 months ago. Admittedly, I do not suffer with them daily, but when they do rear their ugly heads, they stay for around a week or two. I also have weekly massages to help with muscle pain. I have never been given the option of antibiotics for these complaints.

Regards

Angela
