Yes, I did when I first started HU and there is still a tendency for my mouth to be sore and feel as if 'one is coming'. I keep Anbesol liquid by my bedside and dab it on when required or when it feels as if there might be one.

Hope this helps, Sallie

I'm on Pegasys not HU but get occasional mouth ulcers, often just after I inject. Corsodyl mouth wash helps get rid of them...

Developed mouth ulcers after four years on Hu. I use Colgate Peroxyl Mouth Sore Rinse and fine in a few days.

Hmmm... ???

Interesting is it not. that some on HU suffer from mouth ulcers almost immediately (like myself), while others after having been using it for a much longer duration prior to this unpleasant experince?

I was fascinated to learn quite some time ago, how our human bodies are in many ways, just a vehicle of transport, for the plethora of bacteria and other parasites that it carries throughout its life time. Some argue that our human cells are completely outnumbered.

That's a ratio of 1.3 bacteria to every one human cell. ... Scientists who study the microbiome, the collection of microorganisms that live in and on the human body, have peppered research papers with an estimate that bacteria outnumber human cells 10-to-1 or even 100-to-1.

However, there are conflicting reports.

In addition to all of this is the chemical cocktails that we might all individually absorb and generate due to our own personal nuances and character traits, where ingesting pharmaceuticals is concerned, along with our genetic dispositions, age, gender, climate and an almost endless host of other variables.

All I personally can really attest to is that my mouth ulcers ceased after ceasing to take HU.

That fact was good enough for me...

Presently, I am on Interferon every two (2) days, but I am not enjoying the increased intensity of bone and joint pain any more than I do say with the Pruritus (itchiness).

When I was experiencing mouth ulcers, I found gargling with Soda Bicarbonate seemed to help a little, as did avoiding an alcoholic mouthwash.

Best wishes.

Steve

Hello again Steve,

Hope you are feeling well today.

Like you, I suffer from the occasions mouth ulcers and I am still on Hydroxy. Bicarbonate cures mine in a few days too.

Interesting that you get increased bone pain now that you are on Interferon. My bone pain has increased in my heels, ankles and hands, since I started Hydroxy.

Just a note also to ask if you have looked at a site called 'Patient Power'. There was a really interesting Webinar yesterday at MD Anderson in Texas and the info was really helpful.

Best wishes,

Marcia

I find that taking my Hydrea with LOTS ! of water prevents them most of the time. So I'd give that a try.

But I just had a tooth extracted and wonder if the Hydroxy is slowing down my healing. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks.
