I have a definite diagnosis now of ET. My bmb showed no damage, thank goodness. My platelets are extremely high though. As I'm 45, my consultant is reluctant to begin any medication. Things are complicated by the fact I also have neurofibromatosis 1. For now though, I'm just going to be monitored. I'll have another bmb in February, and they'll see how thins look then. So it could have been much worse, I have to be thankful for small mercies.

Hi lynnieb it's great that you are so positive. I find a positive outlook helps enormously with this condition. I was diagnosed 3 years ago with ET and this forum helps to keep me positive. Good luck with your next BMB. Karen x
I agree with Karen, this forum has really helped me, I've found far more out about ET from here than at the hospital.
Best Wishes
Lizzie
I have been on hdroxycarbamide and baby aspirin since I was 50 and now I am 70 and it has controlled my platelet level very well It fell from 2000 to about 350 to 400 , It also made me feel much better.
However it does not work so well for everybody.
hope this helps
