Good news, I got my BMB results over the weekend, looks like typical ET currently, doesn't look like pre-fibrotic and no sign of fibrosis, so good news for now although my platelet count still seems to climbing, hit its highest last week but only 787 so no reason to panic yet π
On the other hand I badly injured my knee skiing last week π I only went for one day and managed 1/2 day before wrecking my knee when a ski didn't come off, such a silly fall too! Stretchered off the mountain and given a knee brace and crutches, further diagnosis required after x-ray in ED Saturday, but no broken leg so that's a plus.. I think π Though it's still mega painful π

I was actually thinking of you and wondering how your BMB results were at the moment you must have been writing your post...
So very pleased that your results look clear of fibrosis, I had been worrying a bit about that after your description of the repeated attempts to get a sample!
787 sounds like a brand new airliner, but I hope it is well behaved and stays at a sensible cruising altitude for a long time yet!
Sorry to read that you have done something horrid to your knee whilst skiing, that is no fun at all, and hope that cartilages and so on are still intact. I guess you will be icing it and hoping for swelling to go down and function to return. All the best with that for a speedy recovery.
Yes not sure why it was so difficult! I have a bruise in about the same place as the BMB was, but on the left instead of the right, as a result of my ski accident. It feels just like the BMB did afterwards ha ha π Based on the state of it and the pain and swelling I'd be very surprised if both the cartilage and ligaments weren't involved. Physio was hopeful I'd be a lot better by the time I fly and I got the Orthopedics appt today for 8 Aug, they'll prob say MRI but I may not be able to get that done before I go and almost definitely wouldn't get the results till I get back, but I can't get an MRI without referral from a specialist and it would take even longer going private so I'll just have to be patient π
787 is indeed an airliner, I have been on one or two πIt has definitely been creeping up for the last 3 months running to hit this new high but I have another one before I go and one as soon as I get back, maybe it will drop back down againπ
Sorry to hear about your skiing accident. I also damaged a knee ligament several years ago. You are right ......mega painful.
I have ET and have finally given skiing up but very sad to leave it behind. I think you are a lot younger than I am so hopefully you can continue with this super sport when your knee is better.
Thank you Mufftreacs, I just turned 56 and I'm not quite ready to give it up yet unless I physically can't ski anymore π I am very restrained in my skiing compared to how I used to be since I broke my hand in 3 places about 8 years ago, and this was a very silly accident that shouldn't have happened but of course sometimes they do π I'm thinking that I should make a concerted effort to learn to snowboard, at least your legs can't twist when you fall! I had a couple of private lessons about 3 years ago but the snow was useless so couldn't practice enough afterwards ha haπ I love being in the snowy mountains with sunshine though and the swoosh of the snow under your skis, one of my favourite things πStill love to be there even if I can't ski to just soak up the atmosphere π
Just a bit but you're as old as you feel, although this illness doesn't help with feeling younger does it? πThere was an older gentleman, probably in his late 60s or early 70s, staying in the same place as me last week who had gone skiing and hurt his back the first day, luckily he could still walk but hadn't skiid anymore that week. It was such a shame, he had had a terrible time in the Kaikoura earthquake (I'm in NZ), he was abroad when it happened and he couldn't get through to his family as all the phones were out, and they mustn't have had mobile reception. His house in the hills there (I think they must have a farm) is wrecked but they're still living in it at the moment, they had a massive slip on the property too. So yes I think he was living his life for the moment, as you say it's important to enjoy what you can! I hope you have found other things to fill the place of skiing π
