MPN Voice October Fundraising Update
I don’t think September will ever be the same again! All over the country and in Europe there were Coffee Mornings, Tea Parties and lots of fantastic cakes and amazing biscuits!!!
The wonderful MPN Community has certainly embraced the ‘September is Blood Cancer Awareness Month’. So many more people now know about our rare blood cancers and how MPN Voice supports us and funds groundbreaking research. I know that this will be an annual feature on the MPN Voice Calendar.
Please don’t forget to send me your photos as we will be having a special Fundraising Heroes Page on our new website and we want everyone to see what our fundraisers get up to.
October is going to be a very busy month as well, as some people weren’t able to fit in their Coffee Mornings during September, so are going to do it in October instead and there are some personal challenges too!
David Brailsford – St. James’ Place Foundation Triathlon
He’s done it!! David has just finished his last event of his ‘Year in the Saddle’. His cycle challenge covered 1,234 miles and then he threw in a bit of running and swimming, for fun!!
I can’t wait to read David’s final blog on how the year went and of course see some more photos.
You still have time to support David by going to his Just Giving Page at;
Andrew Hewitt – Morrison’s Great Birmingham Run 18th October
Running the 10k course, Andrew will see some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Bullring, Cadbury World in Bourneville and Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
Andrew’s partner David, was diagnosed with Polycythaemia Vera (PV) about three years ago after he experienced classic PV symptoms of horrendous itching and fatigue, and they both feel that raising awareness of our MPNs and the work that MPN Voice does is so important. So David has put his trainers on and will be running in his MPN Voice T-shirt to raise awareness and to fundraise, so that MPN Voice can continue to fund research.
If you would like to support Andrew, please go to his Just Giving Page at;
Angela Watson – The Morrison’s Great South Run 25th October
The last time we all saw Ange she was giving a wonderful presentation at the MPN Voice London Forum in July. (the video of the whole forum is available to view on our website)
Ange is running about 10 miles around Portsmouth and Southsea with all the fantastic views of the Solent and Spinnaker Tower.
Ange has found MPN Voice enormously helpful, giving expert medical advice, emotional support and of course raising awareness of our rare blood cancers, so she will be wearing her MPN Voice T-shirt and will have her family and friends out to wave our flags and shout as she runs by.
If you would like to support Ange, please go to her Just Giving Page at;
Sher Loyer - The Colour Run Côte D’Azur 31st October
Sher says “when I first heard about the Colour Run in Fréjus on the Côte D’Azur, I immediately wanted to be able to run for a cause that needs to have more attention and hopefully by doing this run and raising money for MPN Voice, make this happen”.
Sher would give anything to make her sister Anita better and knows that the money she raises will go towards MPN Voice funding research. At the end of October Sher will run about 4km, through 4 zones of colour, 1 tunnel of mousse and will then hit the dance floor 8 times….. It could only happen on the Côte D’Azure!!!!
If you would like to support Sher, please go to her Just Giving Page at;
Don’t forget, if you are thinking of doing any fundraising for MPN Voice, please contact the Fundraising Team at email@example.com so that we can send you a fundraising pack and T-shirt.
Only a few months more to the end of the year, sorry! I wonder if we will reach our fundraising target of £125,000? I’ll update you in November.
Everyone at MPN Voice would like to say a huge Thank You to the MPN Voice Community for all your wonderful support.
You Are Amazing
