Hi has anyone worked in a hot climate? I have been offered a job in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. I know its hot out there but I think it will be mostly office based. I'm going to have a meeting mid September about my role it will be in construction. I'm not working at the moment I quit my job December 2013. I'm 60 and have PV and diagnosed 3 years ago. I do not have many side affects and am on 7 tablets a day Hydroxy, Aspirin, Amlodipinex2, Ramapril, Dipyridamole, Symvastin plus a venasection every 3 or 4 months. I don't feel too bad the tablets are working at the moment.

it sounds like a good opportunity. i presume that the lifestyle is good in that part of the world. the main query I'd have would be around how the healthcare system works and the standard of care you could expect along with any costs. best of luck.

Hi i am 51 yr old male. ET. Just found out last sept. Had an MI 3.5 yrs ago. Which may have been caused by ET. As docs wree baffled, as i was very fit runnner etc. Keeping well on asprin and hydroxyca. I find hotweatherabove say 18-19 difficult to handle, especially on golf course. Get asthma symptons. Beeing checked for hayfeavor and asthma. Happy days. I am sure you will be fine and i believe they have an eccellent health service. I would ask your consultants advice. Good luck.

Hello,

Our son is in Australia, and has PMF. He has no problems with the heat. Just make sure you have good medical cover. All the best if you decide to go

Hi Pedders, good advice to check with your consultant first-belt & braces stuff, however I feel your mental/emotional self need checking in with too. Yes, you have physical conditions which you are managing with medications/venesections & I'm pretty sure the heat will have some impact but are you going to let that possibility get in the way of what seems like a great opportunity?!! I sometimes feel we can become our illness & allow it to prohibit life....for me, yes, my MPN is something I have but it doesn't have me. Ultimately I am me who still has hopes, dreams & goals in life & I'm not going to let my MPN get in the way!!! As far as I'm aware health provision in Saudi is pretty well up there - my friend nurses out there. Sooooo let us know your decision come Sept! Stay well, Mandy
