We are pleased to announce that there will be two patients’ forums in September 2013 in London and Colchester. Forums are a great place to meet fellow patients, haematologists and MPD specialist nurses to share, learn and support each other in an informal and relaxed atmosphere.
London - Friday 13th September, 6 pm – 9 pm, registration from 5.30 pm, the forum will be held in the Governors’ Hall, St Thomas’ Hospital, Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7EH.
The programme is yet to be finalized, but will include the breakout groups for each MPD to give you the chance to chat with other people who have the same MPD as you, there will also be a family/friends group facilitated by a qualified family therapist, this gives your family/friends a chance to chat to others about how to help and support you.
Colchester - Monday 16th September, 4 pm – 7 pm in the Post Graduate Medical Centre, Colchester General Hospital, Turner Road, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5JL.
This is the first patients’ forum to be held in Colchester and we would like to thank Joanne Tonkin, Nurse Consultant, for hosting the forum.
The programme will include talks from Dr Marion Wood on MPDs the basics, Dr Hamblin on side effects of commonly used drugs and Joanne Tonkin will talk about MPDs in Colchester. There will also be a question and discussion session before the forum closes.
You are very welcome to bring family and friends with you to either of the forums, there is no fee to attend, a complimentary light buffet with hot and cold refreshments will be available at both forums. To register please email info@mpdvoice.org.uk and include details of what MPD you have (for the name badges) and also the name(s) of your guests. Maps and travel directions for both hospitals are available to download from our website....mpdvoice.org.uk/get-involve...
Would you like to give a talk at the Colchester forum and give your perspective of what it is like to live with a MPD? Or perhaps you've been on a drug trial and would like to share your experience with other people at the forum. If you would like to give a talk for about 10 – 15 minutes please email info@mpdvoice.org.uk, and include a contact telephone number, with an outline of the subject of your talk and a member of MPD Voice will contact you to discuss it with you.
We look forward to seeing you at hopefully both of the forums.
