Hi myelo,

I have put 10lbs on, I am constantly watching the calories, and fat content but the 10lbs still persists. Never ever had a weight problem before, used to be very proud of my figure. Best wishes Mallard :)

Like you Mallard I too was proud of my figure but since I started on hydroxy in mid May I have already put on six pounds [nearly a lb a week]. This seems a bit extreme to me and I wouldn't want to continue putting on weight at this rate. Can't put the weight gain down to anything else.

This is interesting as I've often wondered about it... I put on 3 stones! I was underweight before ie 5'6" and weighed 8stone 4lbs but I could so do without being this heavy!

I'm the reverse and LOST weight - I struggle to maintain 49-50kilos.... but at least it's not dropping below that or I would be in serious trouble as I am 5ft 6in height. Good luck with it

Thank you all for your replies. i really appreciate you taking the time. Apart from Bruddery who lost weight the rest of us have put on weight with hydroxy which makes it likely there is a connection. How long did it take you all to put on the weight. I have not been on it for long and am already heavier by nearly half a stone. I am due back to the haematologist in two weeks and am thinking of asking can I come off it. Hydroxy is doing nothing for the itch or the sweats. I am constantly going around with my hair dripping wet and skin constantly damp. Night time is a nightmare and am fed up feeling nauseous. I have PV

Hi I have been on Hydroxy for almost 10 years and have put on 3.5 stones! The majority was in the first 18 months then i have stayed constant. Interestingly at one point I had a break from the tablets due to a low platelet count and lost half a stone in a week,

It's very interesting that when you stopped the hydroxy you lost half a stone. Haven't had any blood tests since I went on it so it will be based on the results of these next week that I will consider going off the hydroxy. Don't feel there is much point staying on them when sweats, itch, weight etc. are worse on it.

I had horrendous itches at one time due to a change in supplier I had always been on the pink/grey tablets then was put on white ones it took me a while to work out the link but as soon as I changed back ....magic no more itching. Cant really comment on the sweats being a a woman of a certain age lol.
