Being one-sided is not much of indicator for migraine despite the common association. Is there any history of migraine in your family? Do you feel sick or get any visual disturbances before or during pain. Are you particularly sensitive to smell, noise, movement or light?
I used to have those terrible acute ear episodes. They were replaced by migraines that occurred about 4 times a month. I quit chocolate, bananas, nuts, avocado etc., pretty much any food that contains tyramine.I'm taking daily Metoprolol 25mg. twice a day for prevention and Zomig works the best for migraine attacks for me.
