Prescription is up to date on my contacts. It doesn't happen when I wear my glasses. I've worn contacts for 5 years now and this wasn't an issue years ago.
Very bad headaches that start on one ... - National Migraine...
Very bad headaches that start on one side of head and radiate into back of head and eye, after wearing contacts?? Prescription is updated.
Hello, I have a high prescription am -14 in my right eye and -11 in my left so I have to wear glasses or contacts all the time. I leave contacts to special occasions as a few times I have had them in and for a long time like most the day/night they have triggered my migraines. Even if I don’t get a full blown migraine I will get a bad headache in which I need to take them out ASAP and hope it doesn’t kick off into a migraine. I don’t know why this happens.
This is what I experience too. I don't have contacts for special occasions because I usually prefer to wear my contacts daily and just wear my glasses at home at night. But I may not be able to keep doing that now because it seems that I'm getting headaches and/or migraines almost every time I wear my contacts for more than half the day.
I got my contacts because at first I wanted to wear them daily but was unable to as if they were in for more than a few hours I would get a bad headache or full blown migraine. To be honest most things kick off my migrianes and I don’t seem to have a specific trigger I just get them a lot. 😩
Hello bsk. I don't wear contact lenses but I do wear glasses, not needed all the time and I know that it can trigger a migraine. I am not sure if there is a relation with what you're describing but I have the feeling that it has to do with the optic nerve above the eye. When you wear glasses or contact for that matter, I believe that your eyes move in a different way, as when you don't wear anything, because you can 'see' properly. It may cause an irritation of this nerve. If I have a migraine going on, I can't wear my glasses at all. It's excruciating the burning in my forehead. I know that many years ago, it was back in the 80s, there was still this idea amongst eye doctors that an eye weaker than the other could cause migraines, which was my case and yes, my migraines were on the side of the weaker eye.
Just a theory.
I have to wear either my contacts or glasses at all times because my eyesight is absolutely horrible and I can't see anything without one or the other, unfortunately. I do know that 2 years ago my right eye was slightly worse (weaker) than my left eye but last year when I went back for eye exam the Dr said both eyes were the same now. I need to go back soon and seriously talk to someone about it because something isn't right.
That’s really interesting actually as my right eye is -14 and left -11 and I suffere from bad migraines and started having hemiplegic migraines too.. My eyes are so bad though I have no choice but to wear glasses all the time as I can’t bloody see a thing. 😩 Also I have astigmatism in both eyes and get double vision.
