Hi. I've been suffering with chronic migraines for the last 11 years, they have changed in pattern over the years and have improved since finding medication and a diet that helps but I'm still waking up every day with this pressure pain on the left side of my face and head and it feels like sinus pressure across my eye and nose, it is worse when I wake up but this pain is present most of the time. I just wondered if anyone else experiences this or what it could be?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
Natalie

I wake up with migraines, especially now. I have seasonal allergies. I'm trying Benadryl and it seems to work - it's an antihistamine. I live in Canada so i don't know if it has a different name in other countries. I can buy it here over-the-counter.
I have been diagnosed with Hemicrania continua which sounds very similar. Being woken up must night with left sided head and neck pain for years. I am now on the Gammacore trial which has given me my life back. Much less frequent and a lot less severe. Ask your doc about it. Good luck
I have looked up hemicrania continua and it does sound like I have those symptoms. I haven't heard of the gammacore trial but i will look it up! Thank you for the advice.
I wake up everyday with pain, I have done for about 25 years, my mother does as well. I get migraines 50% of the time and have been diagnosed with Chronic Migraines but my mother gets much more occasional migraines but we still wake up every morning in pain. I know I grind my teeth and have a splint to protect them, it helps my teeth but I get a lot of face pain with that also. My mother doesn't appear to grind her teeth so we have always figured morning head pain was just part of being a migraineur in general!
I'm sure I do but I didn't think they'd give me Botox in my jaw and on my head bc obviously that would be tons! Also I haven't been able to have botox for over a year bc we're trying for a baby anyway...
Yeah it sucks they won't let me have it while I was breastfeeding also argh plus they said if I want to see the TMJ consultant I'd have to go private bc they won't do it on the nhs?
Hi, May I suggest you try doing exercise everyday?
Jogging / running is excellent for headache sufferers, but if you cannot do these for some reason, can you please try to walk everyday? You can start with just 5-10 min and then slowly increase it. My suggestion of course assumes that you are not doing this already - so I may be wrongly suggesting. If you are doing exercise, please make sure not to try with weights (lifting) - and limit to free hand, simple exercise.
Also eyesight problem can make it worse - so if you have not been to check your eyes recently perhaps a visit to optician is an idea?
It is vital for all migraine / headache sufferers to go to bed well before 12am and maintain a pattern - I know it is easier said than done though !
