Has anyone got experience of loosing sight in one eye and that eye drooping? If so, what helped? Doctors say it is stress related.

My daughter suffers from severe migraines almost daily, so stress and enxiety are obvious side effects but looking for advice on what can help. Preferably, something not including more medicine

There are lots of alternative therapies about from hypnosis to counseling. Although being so ill is bound to make anyone anxious, your daughter is in a vicious circle here. See if you can find someone who can help her to relax, then, when there is less pain, to talk through all that troubles her. I think that being calm is the key to breaking the circle.

Thank you Chrissie. She has counselling in place which is helping her but takes time.

As parents, we will try our best to help, but really comes down to the individual to help themselves. She is getting there in that respect.

Thank you once again

I have chronic migraines and my eye droops on one side. My family can usually tell if im getting a migraine bc it happens so often and is always on the same side, it effects my eyesight too.

I'm afraid I don't have any advice, I've always assumed it's just a bit like hemiplagic migraines were you become paralyzed on one side during a migraine so I've never saught advice for it. It happens to my mother too when she has a migraine, although her migraines are not chronic. I've probably had 20 years of counselling too!

Thanks for your response.

My daughter was recently in hospital as a result of the eye problem. At first they thought it was a stroke but after a lot of tests the neurologist said it was probably migraine related as she suffers from severe migraines and anxiety, stress and some depression. She does have some counselling sessions to help with the stress etc.

Suffering from migraines on a regular basis would increase stress and cause anxiety for most people and it is a combination of all of them (my opinion, not the doctors).

If you aren't seeing a neurologist it's a good idea to find one.

I hope things improve for you and your mother. All the best

I've been under a neurologist have been for over 20 years I just haven't asked them specially about the eye drooping, it's not uncommon as far as I am aware. I've had migraines since I was 5 years old and as the years went by I would develope more and more chronic pain conditions. I have the associated anxiety and depression that accompanies that sort of life too.

It sounds like the same problem that we have.

Our daughter is getting counselling and it is helping slowly.

I agree that more medication is out if possible as our daughter is on enough at present.

If anything comes up here, can I let you know what works?

The one thing that is really helping me is magnesium glycinate 3x daily and Feverfew 2x a day. These were recommended by at least 2 Neurologist.

Have they recommended Botox? It might help to stop the dropping eye.

I hate taking any kind of medication, the magnesium is so helpful especially 3x..the noon dose is what really helps my migraine is sitting there and when Intake the magnesium is goes away

I also use Imitrix in an injection before things get really bad.

If she has any back and neck pain she should work on getting that better.

There are external devices she could wear that help stop the migraines..

Good luck!
