Hiya,
I hope you don't mind me asking what probably seem like very stupid questions! I've been getting really bad headaches a few times a month for the last few months and it is getting to the point where it has disturbed my day-to-day life a bit.
Typically, this headache comes on mid-morning and I notice it always tend to be after I've had a really disturbed night's sleep. To start with, I'll have a kind of black spot in my vision (I can't describe this very well, sorry!) and feel a bit dizzy. Then the headache comes on and gradually gets worse over a little while. It's always on the left and a really intense kind of pain. Once it gets bad, I can't deal with light or sound and I'm usually sick a few times.
I went to my GP today and she said this sounds definitely like migraine (and apparently she gets them herself and could have given an identical description) and she prescribed me sumatriptan to take as soon as the headache starts and said hopefully it should help, come back in a few weeks and see how it's going. Her only concern was that, apparently, it is unusual for it to occur so often. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this... or a differential diagnosis suggestion!
Thank you xxx
