Vision problems following migraine

Hi, I've had a run of really bad migraines in the past few weeks, which have left me shattered and miserable, but I'm really worried about my vision. Basically, I've still got double/slow/blurry vision even though the migraine itself seems to have finally resolved. It feels like my eyes are not working together properly.

I do get all sorts of weird stuff, but this last attack was particularly fierce and prolonged, and I'm getting a bit anxious.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Does it then go back to normal after the migraine goes away?

It hasn't, that's the problem. I'm 3 days post migraine and it's not improving.

I would call you eye doctor asap.. never hurts to be examined.

Good luck

I had this happen to me where I started having permanent double blurry vision everyday after too many migraines. I had to get Intravenous Immunoglobulin Therapy infusions for three days and it helped to clear the double blurry vision. Now I am on weekly Subcutaneous Immunoglobulin Therapy home infusions to make sure I do maintenance so the issue does not come back.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I am curious, did you have to see a

Neuro-Ophthalmologist? They specialize in brain/eye issues.

Also, did the treatment stop the migraines?

Thanks for sharing.,

I had seen a neuro-opthalmologist and they said my vision was fine it was silent auras even without migraines that was causing the daily blurry double vision and the treatment stopped the vision issues. I still have migraines.

Hi Bea66, you have literally just explained what I am going through right now. I have suffered chronic vertigo from migraines for years but the last few weeks have been horrific pain attacks and vision problems worse than ever, left eye doesn’t seem to work with the right! You’re not alone and I’m so sorry for your suffering xx

Hi Loulou, it's pretty wired isn't it? Difficult to describe. I don't know if it's slightly better today, but it doesn't make much difference with or without glasses (reading) or distance, my right eye feels like it's dragging behind 😔 I'm going to give it another day and see if it resolves. Sorry you're going through it, but relieved I'm not alone!

It’s my left eye that’s not in sync, maybe we could swap eyeballs and make a matching pair!? Funnily enough my vertigo isn’t as bad as yesterday either - I often wonder whether the lighting makes a difference, on dark cloudy days my vertigo and vision is always worse. It’s pretty crap isn’t it, but at least we’re not alone, wish you lots of luck for finding something that helps improve your condition :) x

Have you looked into Binocular Vision Dysfunction?

Hi there,

I had my first ever migraine and with aura last year April, i am 35m. Since that migraine my left eye feels heavy and is mostly blurry day to day if i am not wearing my glasses. If i try and play a computer game or concentrate too much on something for too long that induces a new migraine, even when wearing my glasses - really tough situation we are all - just try and stay positive. I have had scans on brain and seen neurologist etc. The dizziness is really horrible at times, it's just a case of waiting it out. I am exploring new avenues now as i do have an astigmatism and that can cause blurred vision so i am pushing to see a neuro ophthalmologist.

I hope you find a way to manage your symptoms.

Please see your GP or local eye doctor I was always told if I got migraine changes to check them out ...so glad I did i had developed a macular hole and lost all my central vision fortunately it was repaired and I'm now ok but this is how mine was at first and having checked it on nhs website was at first reassured cos it said it was occular migraine . This could be what yours is but better safe than sorry ..let me know how you get on
