I hope you don't mind me asking what probably seem like very stupid questions! I've been getting really bad headaches a few times a month for the last few months and it is getting to the point where it has disturbed my day-to-day life a bit.
Typically, this headache comes on mid-morning and I notice it always tend to be after I've had a really disturbed night's sleep. To start with, I'll have a kind of black spot in my vision (I can't describe this very well, sorry!) and feel a bit dizzy. Then the headache comes on and gradually gets worse over a little while. It's always on the left and a really intense kind of pain. Once it gets bad, I can't deal with light or sound and I'm usually sick a few times.
I went to my GP today and she said this sounds definitely like migraine (and apparently she gets them herself and could have given an identical description) and she prescribed me sumatriptan to take as soon as the headache starts and said hopefully it should help, come back in a few weeks and see how it's going. Her only concern was that, apparently, it is unusual for it to occur so often. I was just wondering if anyone has experience with this... or a differential diagnosis suggestion!
Thank you xxx

From the research that I have done, we get migraines because we are deficient in magnesium. We also get migraines because we have another condition that is impacting our body like a neck and back ache. What has worked for me is to make sir I eat regular meals and sometimes a snack before bed. I have also started taking magnesium 3 times a day and sometimes 4. It takes about 3 to 4 months for the magnesium to start working. I can also advise you do not take more than 15 doses of medicine per month. Or you will get rebound headaches. I also use ice and hot peppermint tea to help when I feel it coming on. One last suggestion look up the pod cast heads up and listen to its it will help to change your life. Good luck
You seemed to already have figured out that sleep is important. Don't miss any. It's one trigger. Stay of fermented food, no wine, beer or cheese. Singles you can have. Hope this helps. Read my other posts too. I am now trouble free.
Hi- I have migraines but not an md. To be on the safe side, can you get a referral to a neurologist who specializes in migraine? I have almost daily migraines. Yes bright lights and loud sounds can trigger my migraines. Hope this helps. Feel free to text me if you want. Best.
