I'm still trying to figure out the right combination of preventives and abortive medications for my migraines. I'm currently taking 80mg Propranolol twice daily in the sustained-release capsules, paracetamol 500mg x 2 when required, ibuprofen and Tramadol. I was previously taking Sumatriptan but ran out and at the time couldn't afford the prescriptions so decided to try without it.
Recently I've been suffering a lot of cluster headaches and several migraines. One migraine that really knocked me off my feet for the majority of the day meaning I couldn't go to work and one yesterday that resulted in me spending a couple of hours on the sofa with a cool pack on my head. I had nausea-inducing headaches for the best part of a week which only abated last weekend.
Just wondered if anybody has any suggestions?

Sorry to hear you been suffering and so have i the last week!! Sometimes the medication like sumatriptan just doesnt work! Have you ever tried solpadeine max soluble, they often help mine
Are you in the UK? You could get a Pre-Payment Certificate, which works out cheaper if you're getting a lot of medicines.
Watch out for Medication Overuse Headache if you're taking NSAIDs/sumatriptan too frequently though. If the propanolol isn't doing much, it might be time to go back to the GP/neurologist for a review.
Here is what is working me better than ever ( I have had chronic migraines for more than 15 years). I changed the magnesium to magnesium glycinate this has really helped. I am also taking Feverfew 3x a day ( I can not skip a dose) if I skip the middle afternoon dose I get a headache right away.
I have started using roll on the back of my hand- Peppermint oil roll on. I am using ice when it's really bad. I have a massage chair that try to sit in 2-3x a week.
I am also starting to drink peppermint tea in the late afternoon to give me a boost.
I take as few OTC medications..when I really need it I take tension headace medication. If that doesnt work I take 1 triptan and if that doesn't help, I inject my Imitrix.
I am going to try Zofram ( anto nausea) and antihistamine ( Benadryl)
