Tonsillitis

So 2 days ago my sore throat started. Yesterday I noticed white spots on tonsils, went doctors and got prescribed Phenoxymethylpenicillin ( take 2 tablets 4 times a day). But today the white spots are even worse. Should the penicillin be working by now and reducing the white spots?

Not necessarily, no. Anyway, white spots aren't such a big deal, its yellow spots that are more of a concern... give the antibiotic time to do its work and judge how well they're working by how well you feel, things like fever disappearing, soreness of the throat easing. If there's a viral element to the infection, antibiotics won't make any difference to it anyway, they only treat bacteria.

Thanks, it’s started to get better today now anyway. Doctor said it was bacterial. Thankyou anyway

Oh good - I nearly said its often 36-48 hours before you notice an improvement, but didn't want to raise false hope!

Well the only thing is, I haven’t been taking the antibiotics at regular times. Very unregularly actually. But still the 4 times a day. Hopefully they work
