Ischemic micro vascular disease

Has anyone had a MRI that showed Ischemic Micro vascular disease? I wonder what part , if any that plays in my daily migraines. (They are small white spots on the brain that are dead or have no blood flowing thru them or are ischemic.)

Hi your doctor needs to test you for Hughes Syndrome/APS, here are the symptoms, the list of specialists across the UK, and the blood tests, which if possibly you should do in a hospital in case the samples take too long to be collected from GP surgery:

and about the brain, including lesions:

There is a forum on this platform for Hughes Syndrome/APS but do also stay on this one, many people are on both.

Is this both for males as well as females? I'm also a Vietnam Veteran and was exposed to agent Orange (Also I'm In Michigan, USA)

Yes it affected men as well as women, best to get tested to rule it in or out, you will not necessarily have it, but worth looking into. MaryF

I did have an mri that showed white spots but the neurologist said that is what he would have expected to see. I got the impression the migraine caused them rather then tgem causing migraine but we didn't discuss it any further so I'm not sure. Sorry nit much help. Jackie

The neurologist said nothing further? Did this neurologist mean that the MRI didn't show anything else re migraines? Many neurologists in US don't use MRI for migraine scan because it doesn't show any MORE than other diagnostics already show. White spots still seem a cause for concern; can you get a 2nd opinion just on that issue, maybe from a Stroke expert?

I did have a second opinion. MRIs are important to rule out possibilities of brain tumors and such.

I had the MRI because I have chronic migraine and hemi crania continua. He wanted to rule out tumors and he said there was nothing to worry about. He saw the white spots but that is what he expects to see with my diagnosis so I was reassured. My neck is my main concern as it is so painful and causes migraines. Thank you for your reply.

In trying to find a cause for my migraines I had a MRI. They did find a colloid cyst and had it removed, but I still have my migraines.

The white spots are normal for everyone? I've never heard them called a disease before. Unless there are a lot more than there should be for your age. I would just clarify with the neurologist what this means.

he said these were dead spots where there was no blood flow and it usually means you've had some mini-strokes and are likely to have a full blown stroke in the future. He put me on aspirin and a cholesterol pill even though my cholesterol is usually fairly low.

OK then maybe it's something different I know there are white spots that everyone has and they increase in number as you age, I had them but the neurologist just said that they were normal. Which I think is what the other poster is talking about. They said to me there was no signs of any sorts of mini strokes etc, so the white spots aren't related.
