CBD oil for migraines??

Hiya to all you poor fellow sufferers....this is my first post here ...basically I’ve suffered chronic daily headaches /migraines for last 7/8 yr ..The neurologist says it’s one big long migraine whereas receptors don’t know when to shut off...it’s 24/7 pain to a lesser or worse degree that never goes away .Over the years I’ve tried a few different prescribed medications..both preventive and when attack comes on ,had trigger point injections ,addressed vitamins, hormones, tried more supplements than I care to remember, herbal tinctures, added things to diet and taken things away from it,been to see physiotherapists, chiropractitioners, had months of acupuncture, massage ,tried to meditate, been to healers ,shamens, had daith piercings, generally spent a fortune on trying to at least get some kind of release !!!Pain killers are a complete waste of time !Nothing has worked !!Every single day I have a banging”hangover type”headache and then perhaps once a week it becomes what I call more of a migraine as I get really bad head pain /neck pain, drilling behind eyes(usually the left one)tingling and numbness (usually left side ,tinnitus, nausea (sometimes sickness)fatigue, burping ,yawning...can’t stand the light or noise ..this can last from a day to 3 days ,but then I can be building up to my next one and it’s all a big bad blur of banging head/migraines every minute of every day for last several years .....OK ....so what have I NOT tried?..CBD oil!!Has anybody here tried this and if so had success with it ??Many thanks 🤯

Hi Lozzer66 😁

You could be me! I've done everything you've done and more. Bought cefaly/TENS machine, had DHE treatment. Finally diagnosed with hemacrania continua but still knew something else was wrong and diagnosed with severe TMJD . Migraines from this too.

I've been dabbing with cbd oil, buying different strengths etc, think I'm getting there, 7.5% cbd oil stopped yesterday's migraine in its tracks, still early days but seeing results after months of messing with strength.

Worth a go!!

No effects from it other than stopping pain 👍

Good luck.

Caly01thats brilliant !!I have some 5% whole plant extract 2000mg and have just took 3 drops a day since Friday...I’ve had migraine since Saturday and it had no effect but I’m not expecting to feel anything for a couple of was and will build up the dose accordingly!....btw ...I too suffer to tmj to a degree but it’s more tension rather than grinding as my teeth are ok .. mouth guards are a waste of time but there’s a “treatment “available at the dentists but not on nhs called “Cerezen”...they are little ear plugs that put your jaw in a relaxed position due to the muscles not being able to tense because of the ear plugs ..they are made to measure but at £500 not cheap but may be of help to yourself if it’s something you haven’t heard of ??...Im pondering on it myself but want to try the CBD as it may also help with other issues I have as well as the headaches /migraines!...I feel your pain ....your probably like me in that if you were to suffer odd migraines here and there it would be tolerable...but when it’s constant 24/7 never ending there is no good quality of life not even for one day....I hope that you have great success with the CBD yourself and that it will eventually prevent them as well as helping with the pain ,all the best to you🤞🏻Lozzer

The cbd works within 10mins for me, i feel the pressure start to lift.

Had migraine 40yrs now but they took over 41/2 yrs ago.

No quality of life it's brutal.

Give it a go on the higher strength, you should feel it work fast when it's strong enough 👍

Hello! Can we be triplets?? :) I am traveling until the end of May but when I return I will be ? looking into CBD oil (J live in Canada) and would love to hear your feedback! I had what everyone thought was BPPV vertigo, then discovered it was bilateral vestibular hypofunction. And while I was waiting for diagnosis...these chronic headaches showed up. But I will figure this out just like you and Lozzer66 will!! Thanks!

Cally01 in reply toJanma01

Hi Janma 😁 yup wee sure can.

Cannabis oil is cbd oil, google medical cbd oil and don't be scared it's legal in a lot of states for you (Canada) once you start looking into it you will have an even better choice than us in the UK. Always slow to get anything medical passed in the UK.

It has no adverse effects. I started with 2.75% and built up to 8%, i don't mean i drip fed to build a resistance or anything.....i wasted loads of money trying to get to the dosage to help. So don't waste money, start at 8%.

Now....BPPV.

My sister in law was diagnosed with meniers and 5yrs later they say it's BPPV but i reckon it's a migraine condition. She says it's like stepping off a fast moving roundabout (childs playground thing, not sure what you call them lol ). She has this 24/7 even while sleeping it's aweful to watch. Triptans don't touch her migraines 😣.

Welcome Janma

Thanks. BVH is where you loose the "hairs"that keep your crystals where they should be. Nothing they can do. I'm a wobbler from here on in! :) Have studied CBD oil and looking forward to giving it a go when I return to Canada. I travel so much so I have to see if I can travel with it around the world. Crazy times!

Just checked..can't travel, especially to some of the Asian countries I'm heading to. Even with no THC! Still going to move forward while I'm in Canada. We have great access. Keep me/us in the loop if it's successful for you. Cheers.

Hello, I was diagnosed with BPV 2 years ago the about a year later the migraines started! Horrendous, daily at first then after few months of diet checks, eliminations, death piercing I my drugs started working, thankfully. Mine have eased, saying that I've had a lingering one since Saturday but nothing like they used to be. I'm interested too in the cbd. Will keep looking for updates ladies xx

Morning cally. You sound just like me. If tried everything and nothing works. What is cbd oil? I’ve never heard of it

Cally01 profile image
Cally01 in reply toperks100

😁 morning perks , google cbd oil for migraines. It's just cannabis oil with all the bad stuff removed. It just eases or removes your pain, doesn't make you tired or anything.

I'm sick to death of tablets that do nothing but make you more sick along with weight gain (with most of them ).

Early days but getting results after months of persevering. You can take it as and when you need it too and it works fast.

It's worth a go !

Good luck 👍

I was just like you, totally trapped in the migraine spiral. I have followed a low carb high fat diet for about 2 years. I've gone from exactly what you have to 3 migraines in the last 45 weeks. Used to be ketogenic but needed the full fat milk to stave of migraine attacks. Can't recommend this way of eating enough so mct oil is a good start but if you switch to the lchf or keto way you won't need if for long. Don't think that regular carb duet and mct oil will do much as the sugars/carbs in your diet will cancel out the effects you want xx

Hi gladys45,I have added things and taken away things from my diet over the years including gluten free and low carb/low sugar...I even went back to eating meat after 15 years of vegetanarism!...dietary changes haven’t helped me thus far ,however there’s no harm in cutting down on these things again methinks just for general health anyways...I’ve big hopes for cbd oil ...as you can see I’ve tried everything else ...

I'm about to start on the Lichfield diet! Didn't relate this to my migraines until reading your post! Wow! Let's hope I get the same results! I've been reading up on the directly effects on insulin which has prompted me to try this. Making up food plans etc. Just now so I don't fail at first hurdle 😁 Cutting out processed food and most carbs is going to be hard!

Hi Lozzer66

CBD oil does improve my mood and anxiety but I can also feel more dizzy and lightheaded on it. Some days I come out ahead and others just a neutral effect (tradeoff) when the side effect is factored in. It is expensive so I don't always have it on hand and currently not using. I definitely will buy some again but it is far from a cure.

I have had some success using big doses of Vitamin C and NAC when I feel my worst. At times, it can bring me from bedridden to slow activity and that's a win.

Hi Lozzer, I thought I was the only one that suffered the way You but you do.

I’m so sorry for you I know exactly how you feel it’s awful.

I’m going to try the CBD it’s got to be worth a try.

I feel for you

I know...it’s torture isn’t it ...yes definitely get some ...there’s no change as of yet with me but it’s only been a week and I can up the dose yet so I’ve high hopes for it ...fingers crossed for you ...feel free to chat if you want ,Lozzer

I think poss you need to up the dosage with the cbd, 3+drops every 3/4 hrs is much more likely to help. I tried the same sort of thing and thought that the cbd wasnt any use, but tried again with a larger, more frequent dose and that has had a much more positive effect. The cbdbrothers have got very good reviews, I'm currently looking into their oils. I also went gluten free a few months ago and that has also helped a lot. After visiting the migraine clinic i was told to stop taking all medication as i was getting rebound headaches, i then started using tiger balm and mintease (applied to forehead and neck) which provides a lot of relief and makes the migraines a lot easier to deal with, often stopping them altogether. All in all mine are getting a lot better, less frequent and much more controllable

Yes biscuits129 I know I can up dose ...the advise I recieved was to up it weekly til I find good results...I bought the middle of the range oil(blue one)..I will be upping it tomorrow as then it will have been a week !!!...As you can see with my post all things have been tried including gluten free /low sugar amongst other things and I’ve yet to find anything that you rub on topically(tiger balm included )that claims to help chronic migraines and headaches ,to help me in any way whatsoever but I’m keeping fingers crossed for the cbd oil ...it’s the only place left that I can go with it......I’m not expecting a cure by any means but a reduction in the constant daily suffering will be a bonus !Im glad that you have found something that helps you ...it’s so individual and a right pain trying /experimenting with different treatments to find something that will suit us personally, good luck with the oil yourself ,thanks

Hi. I’m new to this group. I can really understand all your pain as I too have had migraines for the last 20 years. I’ve tried topiramate but that didn’t help reduce. I’m having about 2 or 3 days a week and over the last year it’s increasing. I now take eletriptan as pain relief. But I’m popping more and more of them which is worrying. Sometimes they don’t work or make me sick. Then nothing works. Also can get very moody (but that might be about the pain more than anything) Has anyone had any experiences with Eletriptan. Or taken too many? Also I’ve not tried Cbd oils. Please can you recommend a good brand to buy online (and dose /how often as its v confusing. Should I start at 8%? ? How many drops a day? Sorry so many questions 😊

Lozzer66 profile image
Lozzer66

Hiya ...eletriptan is an abortive medication that is meant to “abort”or stop a migraine in its tracks and take the moment you feel the migraine starting....these have never worked for me ,nor have propranolol, amiltryptaline,or topiromate, and others I can’t even remember name of!Trigger point injection and occipital nerve blocks were also unsuccessful.Very strong pain killers and anti inflammatories slightly ‘take me away from the pain “but cannot be taken regularly and I’d need to take them daily .MRI scans and CT scans show nothing but a little wear and tear in my neck .Ive adressed dietry changes of all kinds and tried so many complementary therapies as you can see from my post ,so for me cbd oil is my last chance of alleviating my symptoms .Ive only been taking for a week and the companies selling it by law are not allowed to advise which would best suit various ailments as I had emailed a couple of them and that’s what they told me but if you are on Facebook you could do a search and join a cbd group wherehas those taking it can advise you so you could do that ...I’ll pm you my source as I doubt ‘advertising ‘is allowed on here ,Lozzer
