Hi I started getting the visual aura when I was pregnant it has been 4 years since and I have had 8 attacks I normally don't get a headache much afterward but recently I start vomitting and crying wondering if this happens to others? The last aura episode happenned at the end of June and I have had constant headache and neck pain and burning eyes every day without any relief I also get this tingling sensation in my head which I'm wondering does anyone get this with their migraines? I had a MRI done a few days ago I also had my eyes dilated and checked I do not know my MRI results but I am with major worry that something is really wrong

Hi Andrea

I have chronic migraine and I get the symptoms you are describing and many more I convincinced myself I had something seriously wrong I've had MRI with and without contrast and ct and all came back clear .Please try not to worry I know how terrifying it is when you are waiting on MRI results .I'm sure they will come back clear .Migraine is very complex and manifests itself in many ways and also has a tendency to change pattern .No news is good news

Yeah i have been so ridden with anxiety I'm so afraid it's something bad! When you say you have chronic migraine does that mean it's always there? How is night time sleeping for you I haven't been able to sleep from the pain it wakes me up at like 4 am which is concerning to me too. Do you get the visual aura or have you ever had it? Thanks for replying btw :)

What time do you usually go to sleep? They wake me up too. And I actually have had a tingling sensation that vomes and goes that is part of aura and I get beck pain during a migraine too

Yep I'm afraid so its always there!!it is not as bad since seeing a neurologist four months ago but at its worst I was having just five pain free days a month I have got that to about 15painfree days a month but yes it has woken me in the night it has prevented me from even sleeping at all ....do you get any relief from the pain at all?how long since you've had your MRI..the reason I replied is sometimes just knowing that other people are going through the same thing can give you a small bit of reassurance

I go to bed around 11:30 maybe and it's waking me up at 4:30 am every night I am having a lot of neck pain, is that a common thing? I had the MRI on Tuesday at 1:15 said it would be 2-3 business days for results I don't have anything to take but Advil which doesn't really help I need to see a neurologist

The neck pain is classic symptom of migraine..I don't get the aura but blurred vision and watery eyes . do you have any kind of antiinflammatory you can take ..I think if anything showed up they would have contacted you already ..sometimes a hot flannel on your neck can help

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toGemma12

My eyes have been hurting and burning for 2 months I did go get them checked and they are healthy I have a heating pad plugged in by the bed I use for my neck I also use ice packs and have my husband massage me but it just doesn't go away! What do u mean anti inflammatory like Motrin or Aleve?

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12 in reply toAndrea1915

I am in Ireland so probably don't have same meds ..anti inflammatory s here would be nurofen.. naproxen..difene..where are you living

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toGemma12

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12 in reply toAndrea1915

Oh OK I didn't realise that ..have you ever tried migraine triptans

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toGemma12

No I have never tried anything for migraine I don't normally suffer with this kind of pain it happened after I had an aura at the end of June and just hasn't gone away I'm not really sure what to do I was told by my dr I needed and MRI and eye dr to check eyes the dr kinda scared me and made me feel

Like the episode of migraine w aura I was explaining to her was kinda concerning and after I left that office I freaked out! I put off the MRI until

A few days ago because I have this pain and I'm going crazy with the fear of what this is I'm thinking after try can confirm migraines then I will seak treatment for it

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12 in reply toAndrea1915

That is awful to put such fear into you ..I found a new gp because of the same thing ...if I were you I would ring after the weekend to see are mri results in and then try get some proper medication from gp with a view to hopefully seeing a neurologist ..I wish you all the best and please let me know how you get on

It actually was a young nurse practicioner that saw me I won't allow that again my dr would have never treated me like that she is also very aware of my anxiety I also find it weird that she never even checked me out physically Like do a neurological

Exam or something she just ordered an MRI

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12 in reply toAndrea1915

Once an MRI has been done they do a serious of neurological tests on you that seem very simple walk in a straight line follow the light with your eyes etc etc and they ask about your history ..

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12 in reply toAndrea1915

And you've had your eyes tested as well which is very reassuring

Gaysie profile image
Gaysie in reply toAndrea1915

A nurse should not do that. She doesn't have a Drs background of knowledge

Yea neck pain is commin and often a sign if prodome or it may even be one of your triggers. Maybe excedrin might help a bit more

Gaysie in reply toAndrea1915

Yep neck pain for me too

Please ask your neurologist if you could also be having cluster headaches. They follow the pattern you describe and commonly they wake you at night (around the same time). I suffer them as well as chronic migraine. I think you are having them. My sympathy and best wishes x

Gaysie in reply toAndrea1915

Yep. I was awoken at 2 am.m. this morning. Every night for a week I have woken with one. I also have auras. Try not to stress it only makes them worse. 😊

Andrea1915 in reply toGaysie

I think that's why it's so bad right now I'm so stressed about my results I'm loosing my patience with everyone in my family I'm so tired of this pain! I'm acing it so bad right now on the back left side of my head it's making me loose my mind! Have you suffered a long time with migraines I haven't been formally diagnosed with them yet this is terrible!

I had a headache once like 12 years ago and it lasted 8 months I remember being so afraid and I finally went to the dr and they said oh it's your sinuses as soon as I left there the headache started to go away I don't know if they anxiety of it is making it worse

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12 in reply toAndrea1915

I would think it is definitely making it worse..while I was awaiting MRI results it got so bad sometimes I would think I would literally die on the spot from the panic let alone the pain..then after I got results and knew it was nothing sinister I would think OK its pain its bad but its migraine!!the level of pain would lessen

Does anyone gets migraines all over the head not just on one side????

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toGaysie

Yes mine move around constantly one minute it's in my forehead and eyes and then it's in the back of my head. Have you had any imaging done like MRI/ct?

Gaysie profile image
Gaysie in reply toAndrea1915

I used to get them on one side only however I can wake up in the morning or night and move my head and straight away I get a whole head pain. I take NAXALT which has always relieved my migraines however, I find I can still feel it in there somewhere all day. They are so wearing. Yes I have had 4 brain scans over the years. Plse let us know how you get on. I am no neurologist but really does sound like migraine to me.

Gaysie in reply toGaysie

I meant MAXALT

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toGaysie

Thank you I will let you all know how it turns out

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915

Or it will turn into pressure but if I move my head fast or get up then I will feel pain like on the top of my head or tingly weird tingly sensation that takes over my head which I never had before I don't know what the heck to think About this

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915

I have had the worst pain in the left side back of the head and I'm laying here and boom I feel it move to my temples and leave the back of my head is this normal for a migraine?

Gemma12 profile image
Gemma12

Unfortunately yes It took me quiet a while to accept this too.My usual migraine used to be one sided take me to bed for 24 to 48 hours and then subside ..this type is horrendous constantly moving burning shooting pain sharp pain pressure. I never even knew you could get migraine in the back of your head ..I have such empathy for you because I know how terrified you must be feeling but please be reassured what you are going sounds like migraine

I have never had the aura or visual disturbances but I do get weekly migraines which last 3-5 days and I have severe headache, vomiting, nausea, neck pain, light sensitivity and sharp pains across my scalp as if someone is sticking needles in. Reading the variety of symptoms described on this site I realise just how much people suffer. It seems to me that you are doing the right thing by being checked out but I don't feel you should worry about 'something major' being wrong. You are doing all you can. Persist in asking for the help you need and try not to stress yourself further by worrying. Stress could be a factor. I wish you well. Hope the results are a relief and that you find ways of managing the migraines - even finding some relief from them.

Hi I've been getting burning tingling sensation left side of brain. I've been on amtrypline but didn't work.had scans all clear. The burning is constant my neurologist says maybe I have nerve damage. Do u get burning head all the time

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toShonkieBarker64

I did not have burning in the head but I had it in my eyes and a low grade headache for months after my last migraine. Do you suffer with migraines? Do you have anxiety I know burning tingling in the head is a major symptom of anxiety. I suffer with tremendous anxiety and get every symptom associated with it and sometimes these symptoms are constant and last for months and are debilitating. I know how terrible and frustrating it is to have something ailing you everyday and not have any answers why it’s there. I hope you find relief soon :)

ShonkieBarker64

Thanks for the reply. I don't have migrane. It's just getting me down had it for nearly a year. All scans clear. I keep thinking it's a tumour .

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915 in reply toShonkieBarker64

But you had scans and everything came back ok did that include a mri? Im sure it’s not a tumor if you had scans and nothing was seen

ShonkieBarker64 profile image
ShonkieBarker64 in reply toAndrea1915

Yeah guess your right. Just goingcrazy. Can't sleep. I'm thinking of going back on amtrypline as I've weaned myself off recently.

Andrea1915 profile image
Andrea1915

Well if it helped you then maybe you should go back on it I know how miserable it is to worry be sleep deprived and just all consumed by the what if’s I’m sure you will be fine and hopefully get some relief soon for this condition that is bothering you.
