over the last 3 years i have begun to have migraines, the y were treated with sumatriptan which were successful to a degree in taking the symptoms away before they stopped working, after another long bout i was prescribed 10mg Amiptriptyline which were brilliant for six month i had none , they have since returned and waiting to go back to see my gp, heres what i dont get , i always get a feeling one is going to start mid morning, and more or less i do have one but its always between 11am-1pm like clockwork most days recently , i get a pulsating throbbing sensation in my head when i stand feel very off balance , my hearing gets very distorted and muffled and i get pain behind my eyes , the only way i can get it to go is spend a few hours in bed in a dark room and double up on medication, i have an accoustic neuroma which is static and not causing any more problems since i had surgery years ago to remove most of it , also at the same time other areas were damaged during surgery, including the vestibular nerve, i have read up there is a condition called a vestibular migraine and wondered if anyone out there suffers with similar symptoms which im experiencing.

Thanks.Col.

I wonder if you have a snack, like almonds or peanut butter at 10:30 am, if you would still get a migraine?

Did you try increasing the Imitix dose?

I assume you only take pills?

Have you tried Imitrix injections?

Do you have head or neck pain?

How much water are you drinking?

Can you ask to be referred to migraine specialist ( different than a Neurologists)?

Are you taking any preventative?

Have you heard of the "Heads Up" podcast?

I have chronic migraines, if I just sit about in the morning I would most likely get a migraine. I have to get moving, so either go to the gym or go out somewhere. So I often go to the gym with a migraine but most times come out without it. Plus coffee helps in the morning too.Vestibular migraines can make you dizzy, often with no other symptoms, I don't get that type of migraine but that's what people describe.

10mg Amitriptyline is just about the lowest dose you can have. I'm on 100mg currently. If I were you I get that put up higher before considering anything else.

Like Onthemove1971 said we can often have a blood sugar slump midmorning too. What do you eat for breakfast? Is it a slow release, like eggs or is it high carbs like cereal? If its very carby try and find a different breakfast or mitigate it with fats and proteins so you don't have a sudden sugar drop.
