Hi, I've had vertigo from vestibular migraine since the end of June which has been very scary and debilitating. I'm just wondering if anyone else on here suffers from Vestibular Migraines and vertigo and how they've coped with it, as well as any reassurance that this migraine will end!

Vertigo from Vestibular Migraine
That long?! I can't offer any insight as I've just joined this forum as I have had freaky vertigo for about a week, on day 5 (Saturday) a migraine with vomiting kicked in, the head pain has just about receded (Monday night) but I still have horrendous vertigo. I'm assuming it's related to the migraine, Its not a typical symptom for me though. Usually I feel like I have a hole in my head (if that makes sense) and a pick axe through my eye socket making movement unbearable. Does this sound vestibular? I'm 49 and have had hormone and stress triggered migraines for 30+ years, its scary when symptoms change. Is this a new kind of migraine for you? I hope someone can reassure both of us!
Hi SmamA11, I too suffer with vestibular migraines and vertigo and yes they are horrible, I tend to get bouts of attacks for weeks on end then a bit of a break again a few weeks then back to migraines. I was given some exercises by the hospital to try to help with the vertigo, they help a bit. I don't know about you but it also makes me very sensitive to noise which doesn't help when you feel like your head is going to explode. My only advice is take one day at a time and and during a vertigo attack try to just sit quietly somewhere until it passes. Sorry I can't be more help.
hi, yes, I have suffered from vestibular migraines with vertigo for many years. Are you saying that you have had a migraine as well as the vertigo since June? Sorry. I did not fund it clear from your post.
hi I’ve just been diagnosed with vestibular migraine. I’ve had a few vertigo spells in the last 8 years but this time the vertigo, headache, nausea etc lasted longer. I’ve had it since the end of July. I had an mri and balance tests. I’ve just started medication, think it will take a few weeks to kick in but I haven’t had nausea for a few days I’ve also got anti sickness medication incase I have another big vertigo episode and can’t function. . Head still feels like I’m jet lagged. The dr seemed quite positive that the medication will work. I’m trying the exercises too. Hope you feel better soon x
hi please can I ask what medication you've been given? I also suffer vertigo alongside my migraines. I'm being sent for audio vestibular tests at my hospital. What medication did they give you? . Thanks!
I can use either stemetil or cyclazine for nausea. I’m not using them at all at the moment. After I had all the tests results back (which all came back normal) I had the option of 2 to try. As I don’t sleep very well I went for amitryptiline and going back to see dr in a few weeks for a review. Hope your appointment goes well.
hi can I ask what medication you've been given? I also suffer vertigo etc and need to bring it up at my long awaited nhs appointment. Thanks
hi everyone, I had breast cancer in 2016, long 12 months of treatments and mri scans etc. fast forward after 5 years following my treatments I was clear. I then started to feel like my eyeballs were wobbly. Gp trips were no use and then the excruciating migraines began. I was referred to neurologist and had another MRI which showed a frontal lobe brain tumour ( I was informed this had previously been missed) I have been diagnosed with Chronic migraines and Chronic vertigo.currently on maximum dose of Propanalol ( not working) I’ve had Stematil and now in Betahistine which are also not working. 3 weeks solid now of the same migraine and chronic vertigo and I am awaiting a new appointment with a neurologist. My life is so miserable right now. I am also extremely afraid due to my past history. I am told this tumour is “hidden” but then told it is benign. ( my breast cancer was also hidden so I am sure you understand why I am scared that they are missing something. I know my pain is not normal. I have to work full time to pay my mortgage as I am single, otherwise , I would work part time .
I've had vestibular migraine for 12 years now. Since 2016 it's been constant. I found alot of relief with Flunarizine but had to stop because of side effects. Since then the Migraine has been constant. From personal experience it can be constant for years until successful treatment is found. You may have to try multiple preventative meds before finding what works for you. There are also changes to lifestyle and diet which may benefit you, or vitamins. The best information for treating vestibular migraine can be found on the blog "migrainestrong" and the forum "mvertigo". It can be really hard to cope with but in time you will find the right treatment for you but you may need to be patient. If you aren't seeing a neurologist I highly recommend you consult one.
where can I find the Forums and blog you mention here? Thanks
Hi there, I am a sufferer of chronic migraines who has also had severe vertigo as one of my symptoms. I'm a journalist for South West Londoner writing an article exploring living with chronic migraines, would anyone be interested in speaking with me about their experience?
Sorry to say I've had some horrible head sensation for 3 years.
