Hi, I’ve just started taking sertraline 50mg 5 days ago and I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. I’ve been prescribed it for anxiety and burn out alongside some talking therapy but the side effects so far are awful. I feel physically exhausted, spaced out and like my eyes won’t properly focus on things.
I know everyone says the first couple of weeks are tough but I’m just not sure whether it’s worth it?
I’ve started taking them at night instead and halving the dose to 25mg but still feel completely wiped out.
Does anyone have any encouraging stories? Does it get better after the first week?
Thanks

Hi x persevere with it you will go through a really tough couple of weeks but it will get better. Take your tablet at teatime with your food. Keep busy and rest when you need to but be kind to yourself. You will get there. Hope you have supportive people around you to help. I kept a diary really helped to release my thoughts and feelings in your start up period. When you read it back each week you will see improvement and that will make you feel reassured. 🤞
I have been on 50mg Sertraline for about 6 weeks now, and the first few weeks make you feel terrible I'm afraid. But, from then, it can only get better, and I am now starting to feel more my old self again. Try and persevere with it, it will be worth it when the effects kick in for you.
