Just say you are doing it privately and he may go for that, then the local hospital unless you want to section him/by force at the mental health hospital

He has to commit a crime to be taken by force. You know how the police are they are trigger happy and do not understand how to handle mental illness. I will go talk to the police in person for advice I do afraid of making it worse and he ends up freaking dead. He is intimidating and getting worse

No, friends and family can talk to the mental health hospital and give their reasons by taking him to mental health hospital and if you have valid reason or proof , they will section

That's not what I am saying. I presume you have your own household with partner and children? I am saying they are your first priority and not your brother no matter how much you love and want to help him. You need to protect you and yours first.

The sad fact is if he refuses to get help then there is nothing you can do unless he either breaks the law or is so severe it comes to the attention of the authorities who section or jail him. Until then make sure it's not you and yours who are the ones who are hurt. Prisons and mental hospitals are full of people who hurt or even kill family members and you don't want to be a statistic I presume?

Just letting you I am in exactly the same position as you. My sister has psychotic episodes, and will not engage with GP or mental health. It’s been such a battle it’s made me ill. She want her help and believes she is not ill. I battle with GP every week. It’s distressing and exhausting. My husband and family are exhausted with it all.

Sending you strength look after yourself too. x
