Anti psychotic drug

I’m about to go onto an anti psychotic drug to help with this voice inside my head that sometimes takes over and I can not control it.i am worried about having to go on this drug because it makes it real that I have a serious mental health problem.as as people keep telling me if I need it I need it and I should not be worried.

hi I personally don`t have the same issues as you in terms with voices but did struggle with continuous thoughts years ago hopefully the medication can help real soon wishing you all the best.

The medication given time can give you a normal life, so it is important you start taking this medication

If you do not take your medication how can you exect them to work and help you. I have been on AD drugs since I was eighteen, on and off and I will now be on them for the rest of my Life, I am nearly seventy next week and I look on my medications as a tool to get through my Life.

Thanks that’s I like healthunlocked there are people who have been through the same thing or are going through the same thing at the moment.and they can help other people.i try to help other people with tinnitus and I hope that I have helped people.

Joeb17..u mentioned "Tinnitus".I have a close friend who is REALLY struggling with what maybe Tinnitus n ive been trying to help but cant help them.

Hi. I'm currently on antipsychotics to help with my OCD. I find they help with my intrusive thoughts. They have often made a positive difference for me.

Hi BlackOnyx what kind of intrusive thoughts do u have, I am on prozac and i get strange dreams and unwanted thoughts, its tiring

suicide and self harm related intrusive thoughts but my obsession is mostly around feeling or thinking I'm dirty or contaminated or other things are. The suicidal intrusive thoughts are the worst though.

Yes it does make it real BUT ur helping urself to feel better n better ur quality of life.

I think we all have had the same feelings as u my friend.
